170.6 miles (274.6k) since my last post. Dunno why admin screwed up the system—if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
The good news is, the kidney didn't get any worse after the 4 infusion treatments. The bad news is, there is no good news. Holding at the status quo (not better, not worse).
Hemoglobin down to 7.5 (s/b 13.5 -18) but can't start Epogen (to build up red blood cells) because the blood pressure is too high. Catch 22, you can't get there from here.
But I'm not going to let a little thing like impending doom keep me from riding. Especially now that it's "almost" warm.

Hot, windy and faster than I was able to stay up front for any length of time so pretty much another wheel sucking day of 45 miles. Thankful that the guys take pity on me.. :50: Not able to settle for the 45 miles and 5 miles to ride start so added an additional 50 for another 100 mile day. The front wheel got pushed numerous times from wind gusts so I really have to work on upper body strength.

Typical 40 miles today with moderate winds and temps in 90s. At least it wasn’t very humid. Did 5 miles with the wife on the way back to the van.

After a late start, I also managed 40 miles, pulling in just as the sun set. A bit more humid than it’s been, not too windy, and not a lot of traffic or cyclists. I had a good hard ride, but no way I’m in Blue Ridge Mtn. shape for the tour de Madison on the 19th. My motto this year will be ‘expect less’.

33.22 miles a mix of every surface!

Another bike to work day today. 19 miles. Stopped at local election site and voted, then rode on to work. Then, after riding home from work, went down to election site and helped close it down. (Wife/stoker was an election worker today.)

A great ride starting in colorful Buckley. About 25 miles.

17.6 miles (28.3k). Went out a little earlier to avoid the big wind. Got home just in time.

I rode twice today.

I rode twice today; once at dawn; (about 12 miles); and again about an hour ago; (about 16 miles). I'm retired. I need a nap now.

Did 50 miles of hills in beautiful Mongomery Tx through Sam Houston National Park. I couldn't have ordered better weather and the roads have just been resurfaced. Now I'm ready for a ribeye and a glass of red.

38 miles, no wind, but very dusty. It’s been very dry here and the bike trail parallels a dirt road, which was in heavy use as I was passing through. I’m covered in sweat and dust - not a good combination.

Took a PTO day today and was able to ride on a club M-W-F morning training ride that I hope to be able to regularly attend as a retired guy next year. 45 flat miles in farmland to the south of Indy in Johnson County mostly.

60 miles on one of the best rides I've ever had. Beautiful day, strong headwind coming from the North where the US Forest Service is doing some burning, which made it smoky for a half hour or so. Even with the head wind I was doing 24+ mph, felt young and very strong. Never felt tired all day, maybe I don't belong in the over 50 sub any more. When will we have a 60 and over for people who feel 30 sub?

Greybeard712 05-10-18 11:22 AM

16.3 miles (26.2k). Went out an hour early because of VA appts, still cold at 8 a.m. Haven't ridden the Tarmac for over a month. Speedy lil' bugger.

Got in 95 minutes on another warm but windy day.

Got in a nice and easy, 60 mile ride today with my buddy Frankie. 19 miles of the ride was solo while waiting on Frankie to arrive.

Thirty eight miles to Raleigh and back, with a small detour. It’s starting to heat up after an unbelievable stretch of gorgeous, unseasonably cool spring weather. Three strong rides in a row, and I hope to get out tomorrow and attend the club ride on Saturday. Still won’t be anywhere near the shape I was in last year for the Tour de Madison next weekend, but at least I know I won’t totally embarrass myself.

Enjoying a diet ginger beer mixed with cold water right now.....

Tried to go for an overnight ride but failed at 2:41AM this morning. Started 6:37PM yesterday and due to a lack of relaxation throughout the day and horrendous winds blowing at 15mph I only got 125 miles in. Finally able to chill after a HOT shower I was back out at 8:00AM and feeling better managed another 100 miles. 2 months from today I'm 68 and my double age ride for my birthday ride should be a snap.

Got a few miles in up in the hills:

Did a 47 (46.7) mile ride this morning with my friend Frank C. The ride put me at 60,001 miles since 01/01/11. I guess I'm officially out of warranty. 😄

Another bike to work day today - 21 miles. 87F on the ride home.

Out early with the club this morning to do a nice 42 mike ride in eastern Alachua County, into Putnam, ending up in the small town of Windsor, where they were hosting their annual zucchini festival. I’m not a huge zucchini fan, but the ice cream tasted excellent! Good, strong ride, some of it on the Hawthorne Trail, which is always a great ride.

Congrats. Wow! That's a lot of rubber on the road.

14.6 miles (23.5k). Winter is still here. It was cold enough to cut the ride short. Damn!

16 miles on a very fun, very scenic rural route for a charity bike ride benefiting a local animal shelter - this being their 17th year to host a charity ride. Perfect day, perfect weather, barely a hint of traffic but those vehicles that shared the road with the bikes were exceptionally polite, many drivers smiling and waving hello. Chose just to do 16 miles as I'm still getting back into biking, and my posterior needs time to adjust to a bicycle seat (even a nice one) yet again. Lot of really nice folks my age (and greater) chose this route, probably due to the projected temp rise into the 90's this afternoon. Next year I'd like to try the longer distance, especially as the countryside is simply lovely and very peaceful.
