Hot and Humid ----- again. Low to mid 90'sF but feeling like 100+F so a bit slower pace for sure. Got out shortly after 8AM and hooked up with a few other riders for about 15 miles then on my own until break time. Planning on getting back out for a 6PM ride leaving from a friend's house. Have 77 miles so far so maybe 100+ day today.

today...
a gentle ride round the local college on the wife's Saracen, doing duty for me while the Nigel Dean is in the "shop", despite age it spins like a beauty , developing a lot of respect for the old bike

85°a very nice temperature for me. I was very tired today and was wondering how I ever enjoyed so many miles and if I wanted to continue riding so much, I'm not young anymore. It was just an off day I hope. 50 Miles
Waiting for my broken leg to heal up, I ride around my kitchen table/living room to music for an hour + a day in the wheelchair. : ) Can't wait to get outside and try my new bike again. July can't come quick enough... have fun riding you all... : )
I stepped up and bought my first real bike (Trek Skye S) from a bike shop an hour south of us. I took it for a quick spin down the street, turned around on the dirt/gravel road and the bike slipped out from under me. The manager at the shop where I bought the bike shared that they send the bikes home with a PSI of 65 or so and mine should have been down to 30 PSI or so. : ) I have a lot to learn!

Yesterday I gave my jello legs a well needed rest. I was going to do the same today, but at the last minute decide to go for a ride.
i did not get very far, and had a flat about 2 miles out. Being close to home and running later than normal, I decided to walk the bike home.
After changing the tire I rode around a little more, but stayed close to home with the threat of rain in the sky.
Between the 2 mile walk and a little cycling I still got in 80 minutes of exercise today. It still counts. Ha!

Did an even more spirited version of this same 22 miles Club ride again today, with three testosterone-laden guys hyper-intent on getting their workout completed in less than an hour. Goal met...but I've been in desperate need of a nap ever since!

36 miles this morning on a club M-W-F morning training ride. Not usually able to do this ride but took a PTO day from work to go to Dentist in the afternoon.
Flat roads, mostly in farmland. Looks as if corn will be knee high by Fourth of July.

Roughly 8-1/2 miles this morning. I started riding again 4 days ago after a 25 year layoff. I'm woefully out of shape, and need to lose another 7 pounds to get down to my old riding weight. It feels great to be out on the road again, but I'm taking it slow and trying not to hurt myself. LOL!

Would this be up on Awbrey Butte? We love riding up there any time we are in Bend. Riding gives us reason to visit the Sparrow Bakery for an Ocean Roll! We live on the South Coast (more or less) but get out to central Oregon two or three times a year to bike, kayak and hike.
No it's North of Tumalo West of Redmon, where SW McVey Ave. turns into SW 77th St.
I live up on up on Awbrey Butte, takes me about two hours to get there the long way, via Cline Falls. Probably take less then an hour and a half the direct way. But either way you have a long ride up Johnson Rd, on the way back.

Earlier this morning, after 9:00am, I did a quick out 'n back 17.3 mile ride before it got cloudy and hot & humid. Nice ride, most people were already at work - and I'm off my school bus now that school is out!! Woo-hoo!!!
A photo on the way back, stopping at a restaurant/bar that wasn't opened yet...

I also made a short You Tube video, at the 8.7 mile turnout point, here in the western suburbs of Richmond, VA, along River Rd & Patterson Ave (Route 6).

13.44 miles, 90F, sunny with a slight breeze, it was just too nice not to get in a ride of some sort!

Getting old and can't ride seven days a week anymore. SO I started a new program that seems to be working well. Alternate days I ride trainer and then local ATV routes. Still get my seven day fix. Today was trainer for 30 minutes at 14 MPH. Only been riding a few weeks at altitude so lots of room for improvement.

UPDATE --- Added an additional 30 miles on the 6PM ride for 107 miles.
Another ride starting at 8:12AM today, only this time the beginning temperature was already 86F along with the high humidity. Five warm up miles to the ride start and then after 17 miles riding with the Thursday Group I went my own way. The temperature continued to climb as the miles ticked away with a resulting lowering of mph but staying hydrated along with a couple of gels, 64oz of Mtn. Dew and the M&M's I finished with 103 miles. All things considered, 17mph moving average on the 27 pound fully loaded Roubaix is very encouraging.

51 Miles, this time I thought I'd be smart and ride it backwards of my usual way. Helped a little, but the strong headwinds that I hoped to turn into a tailwind weren't very strong. I even took a wrong turn and ended up on a busy street for two miles. It was hot and I didn't drink enough water. I weighed 4 pounds less when I got home than I did just before I left. There are three large and many more small grass/forest fires burning near here. Last year there were so many the air was thick with smoke for over a month. I had to ride with a HPPA respirator, although they say smoke particles are so small no respirator will filter them.

Not yet, but over the last 9 consecutive days I've put in 180 or so miles. I plan on 15-20 today and 50 or so tomorrow.

Friday evening had a window of opportunity between rain storms so we got out for a pleasant five mile tandem ride. Rode through three surrounding neighborhoods. No hills.

After a complete rainout yesterday, I got back out in the extreme humidity today.
Despite being difficult to breath, I manage 106 minutes of huffing and puffing.

I did the15 miles I thought I would, but not the usual route. I went out to the far end of the Coney Island boardwalk for the first time in my life. it felt really easy going out there, but you know what that means, a really fierce wind going back. All in all though a good ride on my commuter bike instead of my roadie.

Continued checking out the forest service roads in Green Mt. National Forest. Rode over Brandon Gap then tooled around on the dirt roads, checking out a reservoir and discovered that the forest service maintains two low-bush blueberry patches that are open to the public come picking time. Riding back over the Gap I discovered it’s steeper coming up that side - 12 percent grade - but once over the top enjoyed the wind in my thinning hair for the last 3 miles to the car. 30 miles in all.
