DANG, it was cold this morning for SW FL. being 46°F. Bundled up good but not good enough! Rolled out at 12:15AM and could only manage 40 very slow miles. Didn't sleep at all before roll out so when I got back I got some shut-eye. Changed bikes from '83 Paramount to 2018 Roubaix, didn't need as much clothing and got in another 72 miles but these guys were against some 15+MPH winds as temps came up. 112 for the day and Saturday is looking like rain so more pavement pounding to prepare for my January Marathon.

A quick hill workout yesterday, only 35 minutes, but all up and down. I really felt it, I've been doing all flat rides the last couple weeks. And looking at rain now until Sunday night.
Hi! I haven't yet had a foggy ride (at least not daytime). I could have had one Wed morning but it was a rest day and I needed the time off. Walked outside and all I could see were gray tree trunks, gold and bronze leaves. The oaks are pretty much done, and the maples are just now giving it up. Pretty striking, actually.
Nice!
Nice!

Weather forecasts suggested that tomorrow's Club ride will get rained out, so I commuted to work again today. Another ~19 miles in the books.

No riding today or yesterday. I am fighting a cold and it's in the chest area now so biking in this pesky weather would just prolong the recovery. Maybe tomorrow...

Don't plan on riding today (Saturday) but I did ride 30 miles or so yesterday in the rain, wind (when a tail wind it pushed me along at 18 mph ) and mid 30's degrees temperatures.

40 mile group dirt ride with 5 miles of pavement on either end to get to/from the dirt -- or, actually, to get to/from the train that took us to the dirt -- for a total of 50 miles (math!)

28 miles on a windy but beautiful Saturday afternoon. Took advantage of the hefty west tailwind to set my second fastest time on a personal 6 mile time trial route. Not bad for 11 days post-surgery. My fastest time was back in the spring before a bunch of health problems. Starting to get my energy back.

15mph to 18mph steady with gusts that side pushed me making for interesting riding. Only able to hang on to the wheels of the faster guys for about 8 of today's 75 miles.

My first ride in about a week. And what a windy, gusty day!
Those 20-25 mph winds did not stop me from getting in 66 minutes.
But my legs are feeling it.

First time in 6 weeks
back in "slooooooooow mode" after fracturing my femur 6 weeks ago. was in some discomfort after a 10 mile ride with some hills that I pedaled easy up, including stopping at the crest of one steep one, that I would've previously bullrushed. Being in recovery and trying to get back to what I was like before, sucks.

Yesterday, straight up north into farmland then loop back. Dawn start, cool but not cold, a very pleasant 43F. I thought I'd try somethign different and go easy on the outbound and leave myself something for the return, instead of pushing hard from the start then limping home like I usually do. This went OK except I used the extra to push north farther than ever before, adding four outbound miles and of course the same on the return. I'm paying for it today, everything hurts.
That got me about 2/3 of the way to the state line. I could do it if I unrolled the loop, but then I couldn't get home. Some day.
First time using my helmet-mounted Take-A-Look mirror. That was great!

16 miles on the road bike early Monday morning, then 5 in the hybrid, both to check adjustments. Swapped derailers, cables, etc. Seems mostly okay. Still trying to find that perfect saddle for the hybrid.

Santa-themed club ride got rained out on Saturday. Got in a ten mile ride on Sunday - windy but dry and not cold, which is not a given in December.
Today - first commute to work in almost a month. 19 miles total, all above freezing but below 40F. Coulda been worse.

Commuted today ...had such an awesome tailwind on the way in that I arrived 15 minutes earlier than usual, and had to wait outside for the building to open!

Sixteen miles on Sunday under sunny skies with temps in the high 60s. Just perfect but had to cut things short to be with my granddaughter at a Christmas parade.
I made the right choice.

Commuted again today. Not quite as cold as yesterday but still sub-freezing for the inbound leg. Supposed to get up to a balmy 40°F for the return tonight!
I must confess, one of the things I enjoy about winter cycling is how few other cyclists are on the paths. Sadly, the local infrastructure can barely accommodate the current load of two-wheeled commuters, and on the nicest days it's a struggle to get home without killing oneself or someone else. Almost makes riding in car traffic preferable! (Almost...) But send the mercury down into the 20s and the MUP is my oyster.
