45 minutes on the trike today. Gonna rain all day tomorrow.

JanMM 11-30-19 03:19 PM

Nope, not today. Raining and 40's.
Got out Thanksgiving morning for an 8 mile ride in dry conditions but a bit cold - mid 30's. Probably burned enough calories for a piece of pie but had three pieces with Turkey Day feast.

No riding for me yesterday, either, except in the car. Very rainy and 37°f. Was out the day before with a group of 9 likeminded "up there in age" cyclists. We rode 25 miles in 41°f overcast weather, stopping midway for lunch. Had an absolute blast. Super group of people, all out to enjoy a very chilly but fun ride together.

Rollfast 12-02-19 05:35 AM

Nope. It snowed yesterday and nobody has plowed my street even.

bpcyclist 12-02-19 11:06 AM

Headed out for a little recovery ride, nice and easy, at about 0530. Temps hovering around freezing and rain/snow overnight. Got out a couple of miles and just threw in the towel. Too dicey with the possibility of black ice. Just can't see it until you are on the ground, which has happened to me before.

It's that time of year here. We get little snow, but we get more than our fair share of ice. We shall see what tonight brings...

Lots of snow today. Good day for the coaster brake conversion bike and some powerskids

Out in the Winter beater for the first time and probably all this week with all our rain.

While climbing up one of my hills, I came across a flock of pigeons just milling around. Of course today had to be when there was no one around except me so I ended up being the "botherer" and "botheree" at the same time. One of them bombed me as they flew away. And of course I couldn't stop as it was at one of the steepest parts.

Yes I did, 15 miles. Not a lot, but off to a good start for December 2019!

Yesterday (Saturday) afternoon and evening, into town to the arts center (former cotton mill) just to make sure I could do it (I figured I could), then around the downtown park (vacated after the first "hey fella" from out of the dark) then back to the arts center to sit on the deck (former loading dock) to talk to my sister on the phone for an hour (until I was on the verge of shivering and needed to move). They announced the annual Christmas lighting of the tower in 15 minutes so I stayed for that then bolted home. 28.3 miles, 59F starting, much cooler finishing, out about 4 hours.

Now that's some busy 28.3 mile ride. :thumb:

For yesterday's ride I clipped in while on the driveway before I hit the street and my feet only hit the ground once when I stopped to replace a cover plate that became dislodged leaving a hole in the middle of the street. At the time of un-clipping had biked 71.3 miles in 4 hours.

jppe 12-08-19 06:29 PM

58 mile group ride. Only one other rider showed up that I didn’t know very well so we had a great conversation for a couple hours.

Cyclist753 12-08-19 06:39 PM

Did 50 miles today. It was great weather!

A little late, but here's a few from my 26 mile ride on Saturday morning. 39 degrees F but calm winds (a rarity in North Texas). I rode the 1976 Motobecane Grand Touring on the long morning ride. The evening ride was on the Fuji Absolute Hybrid in the pics below.

The trail runs protected along Interstate 35 over Lewisville Lake as it parallels a railway.

A Corps of Engineers park and campground with no cars. Nice...

Not from morning ride, but I rode my Fuji Absolute hybrid to trail the float from my wife's school in a local Christmas Parade of Lights. I decided to augment the bike and helmet a bit.

Good times at the parade with Mrs. Camjr.

Rode yesterday to the supermarket for food shopping, today to Best Buy for gift shopping...

rseeker 12-13-19 09:18 AM

A couple nights ago, 28F, a quick 15 miles, just past midnight. Zero cars because of the cold snap and being the day after snow. Very satisfying because it went the way I wanted, which doesn't always happen. This time, even though it was cold and had some sharp steep parts, every part of the human-bike system did its job. I envisioned the ride, I executed the ride. That'll keep me going back for more.

A couple days before that, out about 15 minutes before threatened rain chased me back home. I haven't frame-savered the new bike yet. As of yesterday, I have WD-40 Specialized Corrosion Inhibitor in hand, so I can get on that now.

From this morning's 25-miler:

Came across a "The Birds" type of situation during this morning's ride. Bonus a fallen tree along the trail.:

Memories of Bodega Bay...

rseeker 12-18-19 04:35 PM

Last night, into town at dusk and back, 24.4 miles. It dropped below freezing after the sun went down and I saw just a few snow flurries. I had a great tailwind on the trip down, blasting down the highway cruising at 25 which I don't usually do (ever! :) ) but then of course headwind on return.

I'm starting to want arm warmers; my core is warm and sweating just a bit, and heat balance there is good, but on longer rides I'm losing heat through my arms and shoulders.

And I think each long ride adds 2 hours to sleep needed. That's age. And maybe the cold.

I just ordered my first pair of arm warmers ever today. Can't wait. I went with Cafe Du Cycliste, which is generally a bit rich for my taste, but comparing to the competition, they really weren't that much more expensive when all is said and done.

JanMM 12-18-19 05:51 PM

On Saturday I got out for a ten mile ride and passed 5,000 miles for the year. Not sure that I have quite done that before. Since then, we've had snow and now pretty danged cold temps with ice on the roads here and there. Hope to get out again before the New Year comes.

Oceanblue 12-19-19 08:01 AM

5;30 am, 17 miles at 33 degrees and winds over 15 mph.
Loved every minute of it.

zacster 12-20-19 09:07 AM

Ive just been doing The Sufferfest and Zwift for the past 2-3 weeks. Call me a wimp but I hate riding in the cold even though every time I've done it this year it's been fine.
