Got about 1200 feet of climbing this morning. Of course the best parts were the downs.

Laps on the hill. The Merckx is ready for the coming riding season. 34 small chainring and a 26 (I think) our back gets me up, still not a spinning gear on some ramps. But I can get out of th saddle.

Took one of the steelies out this morning to stretch its legs.

Still just short rides on my hill.
Checking out bikes and making written notes about minor maintenance to start the season optimally on all bikes = minimal maintenance all riding season, just ‘pick a bike time’. Here’s my CF (almost vintage @20 yrs) comfort racer-boy bike. Custom Calfee TetraPro, fitted by Craig himself in Santa Cruzin, CA USA. Still fits like a glove, but also upgraded to threadless, and newer components since purchase. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...be845dcc0.jpeg 100% ready for riding. Compact double 50/34, mid-cage for 28 teeth, MavicReflex tubies w/ Veloflex 25mm. 60X58.5 & SWEET Riding with a neighbor’s stallions https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4e665dc7d.jpeg |
66 miles with 3300’ of hills. Rode from the house a good ways towards the coast. My wife picked me up in our van and we drove the rest of the way to the beach.
Today’s ride included about 35 miles of new roads to me including part of the Southern Uwharrie Bike Route. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f66931d0f.jpeg |
The Arkansas River Trail in light rain, didn't push it, just rode my bike. It still is under a lot of repair after the flooding late last year. This log in the tree boggles my mind. The picture doesn't do justice to how much water there was. That log is more than twenty-five feet above the mean level of the river (the tree is on the edge of the embankment, the river well below). The various agencies are making repairs and hopefully it will be back up to spec early this spring. Still, a good ride.

20 mi today on paved trail with my Roubaix. Was nearly 50 but most importantly sunny. Yay.

Hard to fathom all of the images displaying green lawns and posts describing warm ocean breezes. We're still in winter mode here and forecast is for another 1 1/2" of snow overnight. It's still relatively cold but I'm glad to say that the worst is behind us. Rode to a local recreational park today and only came across one other cyclist on the trails. The tree lined trail on the way to 3 Mile Bend provides solitude and tranquil rides are virtually guaranteed during the colder months of the year. Today was no exception. :)

The designated off-leash park is also a popular spot for dog lovers. |
Early Sunday morning, 18.2 predawn miles. 34F and still. Playful hills. One of the roads on this route feels like running with the bulls in early evening (exciting but maybe not the best idea), but at that hour I had it to myself.

Short 35 miler in the computer this morning. Met STRAVA friend "Ghost Rider" for 31 of those miles and he did a great job of grinding me down while he barely broke a sweat. Heading to WM on the Grocery Grabber for some NA Beer and other less important necessaries (food) then what ever the day brings.

It was a great day in NYC, 60+ degrees, so I did 20 miles outdoors. It felt great, all that indoor riding gets you in really good shape. I wasn't pushing it but it felt like I could go a lot faster if I wanted.

Yep
Back on the bike after a 20 year span. Quickly found out that my 96 Stumpjumper on modern trails is great if you like fear and pain.

Thanks!

Another steel kind of morning with our unusually mild weather in the Bay:

Rode my bike and voted.
I also need to shave (not my legs). https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d118e01687.jpg |
Me too, the shave! Be Well, Bluesfrog.

81 miles completed so far in Segment #1 of today's Leap Year Day's Century +
Had to get back home to warm up in a HOT shower, get some food, clean kit and now back out. Winds went from 5mph for overnight ride to 20+mph for 2nd segment. Added another 44 miles for 125 mile total today. |

Took a week off from the bike and golf and went to the beach with my wife and another couple........ate way too well........enjoyed a variety of brown ales and several bottles of Italian wine....put on 4 lbs. Was dreading the first ride back but felt decent and got in a glorious 77 miles today. The more I rode the better I felt. I could hear my buddy telling me “you really ought to make it a Gillon” as I know he certainly would have ridden a hundred miles.
Now I’m wondering if I should change my “training” to include more brown ales & red wine??? https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c08ee39f7.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...daa3fe34a.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...ac735240e.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...a09463a9d.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...b6a397956.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...ccf1b60da.jpeg |

First ride of the season. The roads are still messy but it sure felt good to be on two wheels again! |
