Shifting ride time to AM for cooler temps. Broke spring training routine with part of 25 mi ride in the BIG ring! Getting tired of the high cadence low speed rides. Time to move on up in the gears.

Rode 30 miles today. I started at Starkey park and rode to Crews lake road on the Suncoast trail. It's been nice to ride without much wind or cold temps lately.

Logged another 25 miles this afternoon, used a different route though. Weather has held up for another day. Next week is a surprise according to the forecast, lows in the mid-40's on Monday and Tuesday, I dearly hope this is wrong.

6 Miles at Markham MTB trails.

I logged 6 miles on Markham Parks intermediate and expert MTB trials at 11:00 am. Markham Park in Sunrise Fl has about 17 miles of trails.
It was my first time out on these trails so there was a lot to quickly learn
The temp was at 88 degrees and the humidity was up. Sunny and hot. I thought I was going to die. I walked about 5 of the uphills due to not shifting properly and maintaining momentum and from near heat exhaustion. I'm glad that I had my elbow and knee/shin pads on. I took out the roots and soil compacted in those roots from a fallen tree that was fanned out on the trail. I managed to scrape all 4 pads sideswiping trees that wouldn't get out of my way. I endo'd twice, once over a log pile and again going downhill over a diagonal log embedded in the side of this 10ft !@# drop. I have found that full face downhill helmets were never meant for the South Florida climate. I had to ride back to the car and get my regular helmet. I was filthy from the endo's and trail dust but well satisfied with the ride and the fact that I survived without any broken bones or stitches.

Took our taxes to get done yesterday and took advantage of the tax preparer's office to the Pinellas Trail. Wife and I rode 11 miles from Tarpon Springs to Dunedin, had a great lunch at a nice restaurant, and rode the 11 miles back. And we get a very nice refund. Can't beat that.

Today's 45 mile solo ride went great. Back to my January, pre bronchitis times and speed and only had a 150 bpm max heart rate.

25.9 miles, managed to avoid the showers that are coming through. Rain started just as I turned in, at home.

Did a double 13mi ride (2 & 3 wheels) in the overcast. No sun and the weatherman said it was supposed to be warmer today. Humph! I've averaged 100miles the past six days despite the weather.
Summer - where are you?!?

Yesterday my daughter wanted to ride with me so I switched gears and left the road bike home and took the hybrid, it was her first ride of the year.

16 mi. @ 15.9 including a couple of stops to make a rear derailleur cable adjustment on her bike.

jppe, you must be personal friends with gravity (shudder). I complain about 100 yards at a .5% grade.

Another double (trike) ride today for 17.60 miles. 19mph comes a little easier now, and in 7th gear. I usually ride 12-15mph. The weather started out nice, if a little cool for shorts & t-shirt but mostly sunny, so I decided to go back out. Curse the weatherman! Clouds rolled in with 13mph winds, put on long pants and a jacket but cut the ride short. I'm such a wind-wuss.

I stopped more for pics than I usually do, so here are a couple for you:

The Blue Ridge Parkway is up among those hills in the background:

5 miles on my Tour Easy, a recovery ride for my very Intense Saturday mountain bike ride.

Point of failure leg workout was reached on the MTB, I could not do one single squat this morning... I'm happy

A little behind on ride updates. 62 miles yesterday on the Wounded Warrior Honor Ride along the Gulf Beaches.

20 mile recovery ride this morning. Was suppose to be an easy ride but we ended up in a quick paced pace line.

Another 20 miler with 84% in zone three - just cruising. But the weight is still coming off. Hope to hit my ideal ride weight in two more months.

15.4 miles on the Roubaix (Row-Bay) which I've affectionately named Row-Be-Ex. Gusty winds (12-20mph). Gave a riding buddy a ride home in the SUV rather than him fighting winds and traffic. Nasty.

How is it one careless match can start a forest tire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Rode the regular 25.5 mile route this afternoon, only to come online and learn of Tom's passing this morning. Rest in Peace, Tom, you were kind to me when I needed someone to understand what I was facing with my health as you were facing a much more trying time. Godspeed, my friend.

Respectfully,
Bill
