Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

Tomorrow we ride.

I finally got the Enduro Sport together. You'll have to trust me when I say that it looks good. No picture because my camera is broke.

I was going to post just a photo and "Tomorrow we ride." Another of my plans that didn't work out.

I hope that you are ready to have people stare at you a lot.....with amused looks on their faces. Kind of like riding a tandem.

I predict that you'll hear a lot of "I WANT THAT BIKE!" from at least one kid out of every group of teens that you ride past.

Recumbents are definatley 'Head Turners'!

Enjoy your maiden voyage and watch out for icebergs!

This is going to be a fun bike to own - someday.

Took it down to the Katy trail for it's first real ride. Like Jan and Cranky predicted, I met more folks who wanted to converse with me than on a typical ride. After about a mile and a half I decided I needed to make a handlebar angle adjustment. @#$%^&*, stripped the threads in the riser that holds the handlebar. So altogether I got a mile and a half ride and a mile and a half walk. That's the bad news.

The good news is that, even in that short distance, I was able to determine that my elbow will tolerate riding the recumbent much better. I'm much more confident launching the bike. I'm also much steadier but I still found myself oversteering now and then. That'll come. Also, my tandem dealer called me while I was on the trail and told me that it should ship Monday. Mrs. Grouch will be happy about that.

As long as I have to replace the handlebar riser anyway I decided to invest in a "flip it" device that allows the handlebar to flop forward. That'll make the bike easier to load in my car and it uses a conventional threadless headset adjuster that I'm more confident with. I'm also getting a little longer riser that will allow me to use the "T" bar that I already own. That'll make the bar and controls more like the tandem and, I think, be a little kinder to my elbows.

Sure is nice out today. I wish that I was bicycling.

Glad to hear the new bike is starting to work out O.K.

One advantage of 'Tip It' risers I accidently discoverd while test riding SWB's as a novice (first day ever on a 'bent) is that one can tip a hinged bar and riser foreward to accomodate turning the front wheel quite sharply without your body being in the way. (Not much use while under way but quite handy while jockeying the bike around in a tight spot while seated in a rest stop, garage, or even a slow U-Turn.)

Now you really must impose upon a freind and borrow their camera.

Many safe miles to you, I hope it's everything you wish for, I hope you get your wrists back to have the occasional DF ride and think - hey, I enjoy them both - and when your camera camera works again I for one would love to see the photo photos.

Have a ton of fun!
