Lost my grandmother for colon cancer. She was 59. I have a date with the Steel Eel every year.

I'm glad everyone (mostly) has a good sense of humor about it. I've had one, not looking forward to the 2nd one. They found 2 non-cancerous polyups (or whatever they're called) and said "See you in five years."

Which is almost up. Yikes.

So far I have just been doing the annual stool specimen checks, but need to get in for the full exam.

As an aside, my father worked for many years at a large company that (at the time) had their own in-house full medical doctor. So he would get the exams at work. And in fact he had several incidents of both non-cancerous and pre-cancerous polyps removed, and then eventually needed to have part of his colon removed due to finding some cancer. But he is also 87 now, and hanging in there.

At one point he went on his own personal crusade to convince the upper mgmt. where he worked to spend the money to get the latest and greatest proctoscope. He figured it might even save a life or two, due to earlier detection, etc. But his main motivator was that the new design was just more comfortable, and made the test less of a "pain in the a**" (literally).

What does chain lube have to do with getting a colonoscopy?

Two gastroendoscopies thus far. Negative results. It turns out no doc knows just why my gut feels like crap. Something endemic and non-acute. The colonoscopy is coming soon, though.
