Car Free at 50
Well, I turned 50 last Sept. and was planning a cross country ride this summer, for financial reasons I had to postpone it until 2012. The ride is to honor my brother who died of cancer in 2002. A member in the touring forum made the suggestion to do the ride in 2012 marking 10 years since my brother's passing and I thought that was a great idea so that is what I am planning.
In addition, on June 1, 2010 I sold my truck and am going car free at 50! It has been awesome! My 11 year old son and I have spent so much time together on our bikes!
Looking forward to a great, car free summer

Hope you and your son have many happy miles together. Car free sounds attractive to me, but I'm not ready to give up driving yet. Where I live you really can't walk to stores, post office, doctor's office, restaurants, etc. And after a miserable winter, I'm leery of going completely car free.
