After working as a consultant at the same company for the past 4 1/2 years, they made me on offer as a permanant employee. This is like the weight of the world being lifted off my shoulders. I don't have to worry about not having my contract extended every six months. Plus, I will be able to take a vacation, or a sick day, with out losing pay. But the permanance of the situation is the best part. At my age, the offers are thin. I'm about to bust with joy.
I don't mean to rub this in the face of anyone looking for work, I've been there and know what you are going through. I hope and pray you will find what I have found.

I am looking to be made redundant right now and there is a possiblity. 27 years with the same company and I have had enough.
Still retirement is just over a year away----But----- I may have to work for another year to be able to afford to retire.
Son-in-law was aIt Consultant and took a big hit to become employed. He saw the signs and realised that the first expense to go when companies do cut back are the consultants.

Procrastinateur supreme
Good for you - pat yourself on the back for being such a good contractor that they are keeping you. Been there, looking for work for ~ 13 months in the Trenton area, before landing a permanent position. Actually sorry I had to move out of state - loved the riding there, especially north on the Delaware. Just beautiful!
Congrats!

Well done. You must have been doing something very right for the company to make the offer.
