Sorry for your loss but so happy that you have such a solid relationship with your pop. Lost my dad a few years ago. He was 88 and also in WWII.
When I hear a story as touching as yours with your dad, I hope that we can pass on the important aspects of life to our kids.

My condolences to you DG. Reading your post brought back memories of our father back in 1996 at the age of 75. He was a right waist gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress.

What a wonderful tribute. Sorry for your loss. I am fortunate to still have both my parents (85 and 82) but we lost my dear mother-in-law earlier this year.

Condolences from across the water.
Sounds like you had a great Dad. You have so many memories with him so he is never really lost to you. You will always have him with you in your head and heart.
My dad walked away when I was four and turned up again when I was 39! I only knew him for a couple of years before he died and as we had no history together, to me, he was just an old man.
I envy your time with such a great Dad.

It is really a tribute to your father that he raised a child who grew into an adult who cares and who respects. Such a gift to treasure and to use and to pass on in his memory.
