Are White Shoes Immodest?

Bought some white Sidis a few months ago in a big sale. I meant to get black.... really I did. But they only had white in my size. I love them and not just for the fit which is fantastic.

Well the sale is back on and they have both colors.... what to do? I confess I love the white. But would it be immodest to own not one but two pair of white shoes? Can I go back to black?

I only have one pair of feet

Saying that I do have 4 pairs of shoes.

1st pair were cheap and they let me know everytime I wear them.

2nd pair are for the MTB riding but need some stitching repaired.

3rd pair are cheap shimano's and they leak

The 4th pair I wear on all rides.

So bear in mind- you may damage your first pair and have to replace them when they are not on sale But go for Black.

White has a habit of giving the wrong impression sometimes. Just think about who would in their right mind buy a white bike!!!

Are you saying for our generations this implies you are a hot dog (thinking back to the early days of white shoes in football)?

You should wear one black and one white. Assuming both fit equally well.

I would get one pair in black for those rides that are more formal.

If you like the white, buy the white.

I don't think anyone will mistake you for Pat Boone.

No, white shoes are not immodest; only patent leather are.

White is great for Summer, but everyone knows you can't wear white after Labor Day.

You took the words right out of my keyboard. I bought ice blue shoes so as not to commit any fashion faux-pas.

You should always have an extra pair of shoes - in case one gets wet. Also, I think that rotating equipment makes stuff last longer.

It depends. Does your jersey look like this? Then definitely black.

I think they're OK after Easter. Perhaps matching bar tape and seat wedge would be nice.

I don't believe it... in the 90 minutes since my post the 24 hour sale went off and the shoes are $50.00 more... who ends a sale at this time of day, I ask you? Thanks to all you fashionistas for the advice though. These shoes are also made (though not often seen) in red, which might be a nice compromise, eh?

Glory, I have found the red ones at very near the sale price! Would red be wrong?

I'd pop for the $50 extra and get the white. Everyone knows that white shoes make you faster.

I don't think modesty has anything to do with it. If you like white shoes, buy them, wear them and just ignore the fashion police if they begin to harrass you!

My cycling shoes are mostly black (Sidi and Lake road shoes, SixSixOne mountain bike shoes), but I do have some red Shimano's (SPD), some bright blue Shimano's (SPD-R) and some black/silver Garneau's (with Crank Bros. eggbeater cleats).

So buy, wear, ride what you like . . . modesty isn't an issue.

Sure, white bibs would be fine. I wouldn't wear them because I attrack dirt like a vacuum cleaner and I'm sure they'd look awful/dirty in a matter of minutes (plus, they might cause my chain to fall off!).

But hey, if you want to, go for it!

Just about everyone here is from the Tom Jones era or beyond, so why would anyone here have a problem with wearing or matching white shoes?

Those red shoes posted above might go just as well.
