Glad to see you are making progress. Yep, it seems to take a long time and as we heal from one thing something else crops up. But, you'll make it.
By the way, what do you consider a "repectable distance on a road bike"? I meant "respectable" as compared to the distances mapped out by the ride organizers of the Michigan ride that Jim was asking about. Nothing more, nothing less. I suppose I could have worded that sentence differently.:) |
OK, I wasn't sure whether you had a fixed mileage in mind as to what is "respectable". Some folks I've met figure you have to ride a certain distance in a specified time to be "respectable".
Don't know anything about the riding in Michigan. But, I understand from the folks I met in Hawaii it is a pretty good place to ride in the summer and be from on the winter. |

..... To the OP: heal quickly and thoroughly. Take your time before starting activities to ensure you have healed. I didn't and now suffer the consequences with a fused ankle. |

Hi Louis,
Thanks for the update and best wishes for your continued recovery. Are you planning on the 3rd Annual Fifty-Plus ride in Ann Arbor in July, with the Ohio gang? I'm a Michigan native and it would be a nice reason to visit the family. One of my colleagues, a sweet young native of Ohio went to Ann Arbor for a wedding last year. She graciously brought me back a University of Michigan souvenir, but said she felt "dirty" when she went into the souvenir shop. :twitchy:   |

I suppose I could have worded that sentence differently.:) The on-line info seems still to be from last year, except that Early Bird on-line registration opens 3/15/2011. There were set paved distances from 15 to 100 miles, but it's not a given that will be true this summer. Last year the benefit for early registration was $10 for adults, and $1.00 for AABTS members. I'd expect that's the same this year. Latitude65: I'd say your Hawaii friends are correct, though I don't have the option of being from Michigan in the winter. |
