I'm feeling so unworthy. How many garbage miles in there?

Hey, I'm not retired yet - I just feel like I should be! And most of us aren't from Canada, so change that "h" to an "l". Oh wait - you agreed to tone it down, so you can't do that. Phfffftttt~~~~ ;-/

Of course, when I first started riding with my club, comprised of folks that qualify for this forum, the first question I was asked was: "Are you still working?" When I said yes, the reply was "Too bad, you can't really get in shape until you retire." Some of 'em rally rack up the miles.

Allegheny Jet 12-31-10 03:38 PM

After today's 51 miles I'm at 8,113 for the year in addition to around 40 hours of cyclo cross and mtb riding.

Also of note: no flats in 2010. There I said it! On today's ride there were 4 flats between three riders and none were mine. Continental 4000 S tires rule.

Bob Ross 12-31-10 04:22 PM

7,854 miles. Only 52 miles more than last year, but, considering I took most of September off as solidarity with my wife who was recovering from a nasty crash, I'm amazed I even matched last year's total much less passed it.

Next year I'm aiming for 8k even!

cranky old dude 12-31-10 05:59 PM

Not many here, only 4092.

I did manage to ride at least a little each month:

Jan.....25.9 miles
Feb....09.1 miles
Mar...401.0 miles
Apr...569.01 miles
May..749.66 miles
Jun...521.82 miles
Jul....633.23 miles
Aug...186.48 miles
Sep...282.29 miles
Oct...417.66 miles
Nov...282.14 miles
Dec.....13.4 miles

The bikes I rode this year and the mileage for each bike:
Volae Tour.................1270.4 miles
Easy Racer Tour Easy..1671.90 miles
Sun EZ Sport...............296.50 miles
Trek 820.....................818.90 miles
Sun EZ Tandem..............34.1 miles (all but 6 of these were with Mortimer, my pet skeleton)

I'm content with these results considering I work 50hr's per week, need to drive my wife everywhere she wants / needs to be, and made several moves with the daughters from home to school and back again.

Ha ha ha. Last laugh is ours. It's only a matter of time.....

BTW, welcome to the forum, pcad. You finally earned it.

For me, reviewing my logs in Nov found some dups that I deleted and between the weather and holidays, there was no way to make up the lost miles. Hence I was 407 mi short of my revised 2010 goal of 7K. But I did blow 2009 and my orignal 2010 goal of 5K out of the h2o

Well I feel like a slug. You rode twice what I did, both commuting and overall. I did 2240 miles commuting, 3730 miles total for the year. I thought I would put more miles on this year because my commute more than doubled, but it just meant I didn't ride as much.

Bud comes through my neighborhood sometimes on his way to work and has pointed out some good alternate routes. :thumb:

Kip 12-31-10 07:29 PM

7052 this year in 244 rides of which 151 were commuting to work.

Wait until your 70 and then you can brag. I only got 6255, but I'm 17 years older than you. I will read your total miles when your 70 and I'm 87. Fair enough.

I average 15-20,000 ft weekly, more or less. I figure between 800,000 and 1,000,000 ft.

10 Wheels 01-01-11 06:38 AM

Finished with 9025 miles

ColorChange 01-01-11 09:13 AM

I got somewhere over 7,000 miles, no commuting miles this past year. :)

ZmanKC 01-01-11 09:37 AM

I'm almost embarrassed to report only 3,014 miles.

cccorlew 01-01-11 11:20 AM

Fixed gear S/S 326
Commuter 2485
Kestrel 1520
Roubaix 3146
TOTAL 7477

I was looking for 8000, but had parental health issues this summer. Maybe this year.
Still, I managed 5 double centuries and to come in not-last in a serious time trail (OK, it was next to last, but still....)

bjjoondo 01-01-11 12:20 PM

So "clue" me in here folks, is there something "evil or wrong" with, "commuter miles"?? Seems to me it shouldn't matter as long as it's miles ridden, dirt, road, commuter, utility, etc.**********

Jeezelpete no. I'm proud of my commuter miles. I report them just because that's how I keep track of them. In a way, they are tougher miles than the road miles in that I do them rain or shine, baking or frozen, night or day.

And indeed all miles 'count'
Except those weasels who try to toss in indoor 'miles'
