Watching a baseball game last night they post a really startling statistic. Last season there were a total of 21 postponed games due to rain. This season there have already been 29.

I don't think I've had more than five or six dry commutes to work since February.

With that rant out of the way, my thoughts are with those down river on the Mississippi.

Living in South Jersey, I feel your pain. It has been nothing but rain or the threat of rain. It's depressing, but as you mentioned, at least we aren't flooded.

Come out to Colorado .. we only get like 5 rain days a year (and they've all been this past week, so you're dry for a year)

Huh? I live in Colorado and it has been snowing and raining since the first of March. The northern and southern parts of the state are dryer.
There is fresh snow on the ground around my place this morning. 5/19/2011 and it is snowing again.

Yeah but I managed to squeeze in 2,25 milers between the rain drops on Tue. and Wed.Tue. a pretty constant drizzle and Wed. sometimes sunny despite 100% predictions of rain.Last 15 minutes of the ride were in heavy rain however.Also however, it was totally worth it as I rode on my new 1985 Trek 760 and it is an amazing ride!

We had the wettest April on record, here in central Indiana. And May hasn't been far off that mark so far. I'm getting soooo tired of it. In those brief moments when it's not raining, all I have time to do is run the mower over the over-long, sodden grass.

I was at a pub just before opening day when I watched the Cleveland Indians get snowed out mid game. What's that tell you for the year?

Agreed ... put in perspective, our (Southwest Ontario) longest, snowiest winter in years and now a long, grey, cool, wet, dismal Spring is at worst annoying from a cycling point of view, whereas ...
these weather patterns have been and are a cause of true human misery in the U.S. and up here. There's also the short and long-term effects on farming, which may have some pretty severe consequences for food supply/price, not to mention the financial health of farmers. Here, they have literally been unable to get out on their fields.

Nevertheless ... where's the bl___y sun?!?

Been a wet week here but I have been able to get out between showers. Watching the radar and takeing the opportunity when it comes.

That's what you get for living at 9000'. I've been snowed on paddling the Blue on the 4th of July. Coldest day I paddled all year because we put on in 70º and took off in a blizzard.

Ditto up here in MA. Endless cold, and seemingly endless rain. Sometimes, it comes so close to stopping, but it never quite makes it. The heat has been coming on in my apartment at night, due to the cold. I think this is the latest I have heard the heat come on. But, as you pointed out:

-No floods, aside from the dreaded "ponding on the roadways".
-No towns getting erased from the map by tornadoes.
-No earthquakes, tsunamis, swarms of killer bees, locust swarms, or Zombie invasions.

At lease, not yet.

We've had 9 hours of sunlight over the last 7 day.. More rain and cloud for the next 5 days. Brutal.

55/100ths of an inch of rain since Jan. 1st.
Springs are usually windy here in Tucson, but it's been blowing hard for weeks.
Hit a high of 97 degrees a couple weeks ago.
Back in March hit 5 cold nights in a row (around 20 to 30 degrees) and even had a very light dusting of snow.
Can 100 degrees be far away?

'Bout a month to the past away here. Seen daily 110 and occasional 120. Did a morning (6.00 am to 7.30am) ride this morning with the spouse, about 40 kms before it got really hot. Then the same in the afternoon on my own. I like the hot

But if you have a bit of rain to pass on, it'd be welcome here

I live in the South East corner of England- The Garden of England where a lot of Vegetables and salad crops are grown. We rely on rain to irrigate the crops and even for the grass so the cattle can fatten up. We have had a wet winter but luckily not much Flooding this year. I say wet winter but for the last few it has been cold and snowy.

But not this year. February and we were still in the cold and snowy bit- then March came along and very little rain to go with the high winds and cool weather. April and still no rain but the weather is improving. May and the temp is just right and the winds are no longer keeping me off the bike and England is beginning to sink with the amount of Rain we are getting----Except in the South East. Since March 1st we have had less than 12mm of rain fall. Tonight we "Might" get 1 mm if we are lucky but looking out at the latest forecast- I doubt that we will have any.

So stop moaning and get the waterproofs on and de-rust the bike- It probably needs it.
