N + 1!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every year for the past four years I have attended "Women's Specific Night" at my favorite Jersey bike store, Danzeisen & Quigley. They always have speakers who talk on a variety of cycling topics as they relate to women, wine & snacks, goody bags, door prizes and a raffle for a bike.

This year, the proceeds of the raffle benefited the MS Society. My thoughts turned to True-Gritter Mrs. Cranky, and I bought $15 worth of tickets. I WON THE RAFFLE! I now own a brand new Trek Alpha! Not as nice as the Trek I already own, but an excellent +1 for me!!!
Some of you may recall I had my Trek 1000 stolen a few years ago. After it happened, Louis sent me this Poem:

On Her Return
On her return
Will she forgive?
Some new bits...a nice gesture, but
Only time is truth.
Your time, and lots of it.

Perhaps, if the gods have been appeased
And take pity on your lot,
You will feel her love again.

LP 1-14-08

Well, Louis! I guess I got her back!!

Fantastic! Maybe your good luck will rub off on me and I'll win that Radio Shack Tour of California Special Edition Trek Madone that I signed up for.

Dear miss kenton,

Thank you ever so much for introducing a heart warming ray of sunshine into an otherwise very dreary day.

Here is how I did it: I know that every year they raffle a bike. Before I left the house last night, (my hand to God), I said to my hub, "I am going to win that bike tonight!" Visualization, my good sir, visualization! That and 15 tickets.

I will, but I have to be measured so they can to order one that fits. The bike they had at the show was WSD for a petite flower. They weren't expecting Long Joan Silver to win, I guess. The BSG said I didn't have to take a bike, I could opt to pimp my Trek with some carbon wheels, but that is out of step with my needs. I am happy to have a spare bike.

Oh, I see. They only issued 15 tickets at $100 a pop, and you bought them all?

Well done Miss Kenton but on that visualization thing, I have as good an imagination as the next person but it has not improved my love life in the slightest.

Very cool, Miss K. Major congratulations.

But a bike shop named Danzeisen & Quigley? Sounds like an Anglo-Saxon (or Saxon-Anglo) funeral parlor.

Stapfam, It's a "Lexa", part of the Alpha series. Here's the bike:

Thank you, Craig. As far as the name goes: when you gather one hundred female cyclists in a bike shop, provide them with wine, hors d'oeuvres and a 20% off coupon, it is hardly the scene of a funeral parlor. berner may do well to visit such an event.
