Heh... I'd prefer not to have to use a trainer either but riding on snow and ice isn't exactly a safe and desirable thing to do around here. I xc ski on weekends only because of the time and distance to get to where I ski otherwise I'd be doing that every day. If it was just cold then I'd still be riding.

I've always found rollers to be less boring, and more beneficial due to the need to peddle smoothly.
