Ride with Tommy D!
Today was the zMotion Kids in Distress warm up ride with Tommy Danielson, of team Garmin Cervelo, and 9th place finisher in the 2011 TDF. The wind was out of the ENE and gusting pretty hard. It was a bit sketchy, especially in the "canyons" between the hi rise condos in Boca. We got a quick sun shower at the 7 0'clock start, but it quickly passed.
Of course Tommy led out the A group that was doing 65 mi today. I chose to save myself for tomorrow's 100 mi hammerfest, so I went out with Jeff and the B group. We did 44 mi. It was tough going north, but the ride home was a bit easier.

After the ride I got this photo with him, and he also signed a couple of posters like you see in the background of the 2nd pic. One was signed to me, the other I had him sign for "Iron Man" Tyler, my 8 y/o grandson, who had cancer 3 years ago. Tommy was touched by his story, and wrote an nice note on the poster. Tommy is a real gentleman.
Me with Tommy D.

Tommy with local zMotion cycling pros, Grant Potter and Chris Hoch.

Tomorrow I'll actually get to ride with Tommy and the A group on the 100 mi ride. It will be a pretty big peleton since today was a zMotion invitation only event. I won't be able to hold on for the entire distance, but I'll try to bury myself in the "warmth of the peleton" and hold on as long as I can. The winds are forecast to be like today, 12 - 15 mph gusting to 20.

Smashing!
Good wishes and every appreciation to all involved
And Mr Bob, I think it was hugely kind of you to slow down enough to let the visiting celebrity his moment in the flashbulb

Really, he is, plain and simple, a great guy. Very friendly and approachable and caring. He was quite moved by my grandson's story. Of course, he has a little guy about 2, so he can relate.
