New server time for Bike Forums?

Anyone else noticed the site getting really slow and sometimes not responding at all?

There's an occasional something on most websites in my experience.

But then you miss the ads for the company that sells Kawasaki motorcycle parts.

I'm a member of 4 forums, all use Vbulliten. This forum is very slow and constantly hangs. Don't think my 7 meg connection is the issue or at least the issue doesn't extend past this site..

Yep. It was better a couple of weeks ago, but wasn't long before it slowed down again. I've tried several browsers, but the same results. Some days are better, but many times it just hangs. I just checked Speakeasy.net and am getting around 9 mbs from Dallas and Atlanta tests (either side of me).

It's not the browser or your connection, it is the server.

Yes! Ever since I joined it has been the slowest-loading site that I use. (I also use similar websites dedicated to hiking, birding, cruising, travel, etc.) All these special-interest sites use off-the-shelf software, and I have always attributed Bikeforums sluggishness to the underlying design of this particular package.

Wow! Finally got into a thread. I couldn't even open a thread last night. Half the threads I tried this morning wouldn't open. Just got the IE error message giving me the chance to "Diagnose Connections". I'm not having any problems surfing anywhere else.

This is my second attempt to post this.

It has been better the last week or so but before that it was dog slow for me, sometimes locking up and forcing a restart of my browser (I am using the PC version of Safari). It was even slower when trying to access it using my iPad 2, even with a clean cache.

Absolutely no problems. However, I have no ads, having a red star, and, in addition, I am at 6,000 feet.

Whenever I start running slow I blame it on the bike.

Just changed my computer to something more up to date. XP and 750 Mg of ram was causing me problems on speed on everything. 16Gb of ram has cured all my lack of speed and I think that is due to the programmes I have used with no apparent problems for years- have been modified- changed- Messed up--to require more that they did 7 years ago.

But if I do notice any slowness in BF- I get it on all the sites aswell. Put it down to Broad band slowing down due to the number of users in my area.

Iffy at times , and I'm usually up
at 4 in the morning when
band traffic is slow .
Could be my recalcitrant computer , though.

My guess it's their database server. If you notice the forum pages come up fairly well. But when you drill down into a thread it's much slower. I don't think it's a concurrent connections issue as that will be more traffic specific. I think they need to archive the old posts to make the database more responsive. Put them on a separate server or just delete them.
