Why couldn't I...
Be outside in this beautiful weather, riding my new Masi, which is still on-hold at the LBS, instead of breaking up with my GF?

Sorry about the GF news, Gary. I'll spare you the "what looks like a curse may be a blessing" consolation talk. Seems the Masi's appearance and your return to cycling came along with therapeutic good timing. Getting out into almost spring weather, getting an endorphin hit, building yourself towards a goal, and feeling free on the road has always been helpful for me at "serious" times. Good wishes.....

Life is only as fair as you make it. The season is just getting started and you will have all of spring and early summer to meld with your new ride. Maybe you can get out when you don't need arm and leg warmers even at the start of the ride.

If you lived in Missouri you'd probably have another month of prime breaking up weather by which time your Masi would be ready.

Really sorry to hear about the split. It is never fun to lose someone you once had so much hope for. But, life always offers opportunities and that's what you can look to. Use that Masi as therapy to help you chart your course.

I'm thinking the Masi will be a wonderful therapist when I can get her home. I'll probably book 3-4 sessions a week - I have a lot of issues to work through!

Of course you could be out riding the new Masi and not breaking up with the GF. All you have to do is kiss and make up and then borrow the funds from her to complete the purchase. That would probably be a bad idea, but it would get you on the bike. Come on, what's more important, being true to yourself or getting on that gorgeous bike?

I once knew a typical good 'ole boy who had a unique thought on the subject. It went somthin' like;
Women are like buses, they come along on a regular schedule. Some times the ride is long, some times the ride is short. But no matter what, when you get off one, another one will be along, all you gotta do is wait.
The Masi will be a lifetime affair. I have a Centurion hanging in the garage that predates my wife by several girlfriends. It's a long term lover.

Ride the Globe and get your legs back into shape so they will be worthy of the Masi.

Having never owned a Masi, and having had only one real GF, I cannot honestly say I feel your pain, but you do have my sympathy. Get out and ride ANY bike -- the endorphins will do you a world of good.

Not to make light of your misery, but that sounds like a good theme for a blues song. Or maybe country.
Seriously, sorry about the breakup, but prospects are much better for single guys of our age than they are for the ladies.

Loss of GF is a major bummer and hurts like heck. It leaves a wound and I hope you heal fast... and get well soon.

I am sorry to hear of your break-up DG. Like others have said, the bike is arriving at a good time. The endorphins released on a good ride will help you overcome your heartache.
