I ate six donuts on the ride a couple years ago....that would deduct 30 from my age
It would probably make more sense to add 10 miles for every donut you eat.

Perhaps we should have a thread called Acting Our Age? Wonder what responses that would get.

I absolutely REFUSE to grow up! Life is too short to be serious all the time.

Doing both in the same year would be a major accomplishment even though some other guy or gal would do both on the same day.

Might as well ride my age, I surely can't act it...

Just keep it simple. Ride your age. If it gets to be too far to ride, for example, 75 miles in a day, switch to 75 kilometers (46.5 miles) or 75 yards or 75 feet or 75 minutes. Just do 75 of something to celebrate your 75th birthday.
You're onto something here. Ride your age somehow or other.
Do we have to act our age? (should have read further into the thread before posting.)

Last year I did a age x 2 for my 63rd. Planned to do the same this year, but so far the opportunity has not presented. Had the chance to do a 136 mi ride but the Mrs. had other plans. We went to Orlando to visit friends.

I did a 130 mi ride for my 60th birthday. My longest ride prior to that in recent memory was about 70mi. My heart rate monitor was key. Every time I got aggressive and started spinning fast or pushing my heart rate up to my normal training rate I backed off a bit and just tried to lock into a reasonable heart rate that I knew I could sustain. Worked out wonderfully. I hope to do a 180mi ride this summer. As a "clyde" it's the hills that really take their toll.

Hmmmmmm ....... so if bicycling is so good for the health, how come the Biblical Patriarchs lived so long before the Age of Shimano??? And if some of those guys were alive today - would you want to join them for a ride to help celebrate their birthday?? OK -I'm tired just thinking about ut!

I may just follow that advice...once I turn 95.
