I picked up a used 1985 Bridgestone 600 off eBay several years ago: typical mid-80s Japanese road bike with narrow steel pipes (4130), horizontal top tube, downtube shifters, 6-speed freewheel, and (most importantly) clearance & braze-ons for full coverage fenders. I've done a lot of upgrades over the years as parts have worn out (everything was 100% original when I bought it...including the tubes and tires!), but it's still basically a semi-clunky road bike that I can ride in crappy weather and not care.
Turns out it's so much fun I often ride it in perfectly decent weather too!
