That Fred thing is interesting, me I have a mirror on my CF bike.... I am partialy deaf, have to rely on it, that makes me a Fred, even though many would benefit from a mirror, they would rather turn and weave all over to see whats behind, some moron almost scratched my Corvette, Morons, freds and Cyclists, a great mix! what are you?

That one I don't get... Why would you want to shave your legs to cycle? There can be no advantage in being 0.05 grams lighter...

There are a number of courses in this thread where I've earned a Ph.D.

Think wind resistance. Brought to you by the same folks who gave us aerodynamic seat posts. A second and to me more compelling reason is that it is easier to clean up road rash on hairless legs. There is a reason why surgeons shave you before they cut you open.
Seriously - how many of us actually have road rash where the shaving of the legs really makes a difference? |

There are some very clever submissions here. I'd sign up for some of these.

Any one cover "The fine art of camuflaging your bike as a rat" yet? I have some fine riding bikes that look... sad. But no one ever steals them.

How do you propose to handle the quality control issues? |

I could teach this class. Not only have I done this for 2 of my own bikes, I've done it for 2 other people.
You get bonus points for riding so slowly that they have to wait for you at the finish just so they can return your crap to you. |
"Cycling Clothes on the Cheap" This is a field trip to Walmart followed by a lab. Students go to Walmart and peruse the women's under ware department looking for extra large items that can be reconfigured into cycling shorts including the coveted "bib shorts". Students return to a lab setting where they cut and sow the items into practical cycling clothes.
|
"Pie Plate Cassettes" This course combines culinary delight with gearing. Students learn how wide range cassettes are used to spin slowly up hills. As a bonus, they taste various samplings of pie adding to their body weight confirming their need for lower gearing. Required reading before the course here.

Although I must admit, Target has some really nice cool-dry tees for doing short, summer rides. This thread is just too funny. |

Seriously - I have had the fun of trying to peal scabs that were partially attached by leg hairs. Oh Joy! For folks who go handlebar to handlebar on all sorts of roads including cobblestones, it probably makes sense. Other than that it is probably one of the hallmarks of the poseur. |

Back in the 80's I had a crash that left me with HUGE road rash on my leg. It took them at least an extra hour to pick each hair out of my leg and thigh with tweezers before they could clean and treat it. That didn't feel too good.
