Sick and tired of the video running

Is anyone else sick of the video running next to where the text is?

Get a Titanium membership and you won't have any ads to worry about. It is the best money I spent for my 2 year membership.

What video? Maybe my red star is protecting me. Or, maybe Adblock Plus is blocking it for me.

I don't know what video you are seeing, but I see an ad for a bike shop, showing kids wearing helmets way too high on their heads while riding bikes. If that's the way that shop fits helmets, I think I will avoid it.

Sometimes Phil, it's okay to be rude. This video is one of those times.

Love that Firefox with Adblock! Didn't even know what you were talking about at first!

I use a "hosts" file to block mine. Searched for a way of getting rid of those nasty ZEDO popups that are so prevalent out there. Haven't seen any side advertisements for quite some time now.

The Firefox browser and its Adbloc work well for me. Beast, where can I find or type in the "Hosts" files? How do they work? Thanks in advance.

Do a google search for "Hosts Blocking" and that should do the trick. If not message me your email address and I'll send you the necessary files. Works GREAT and I haven't seen a ZEDO popup in months.

yes, you are an "obsolete premium member,"** so you will never see ads, adblock or no.

** not making this up

As far as the OP goes, I was not logged in for a while over the weekend, and I saw ads, but no video

That it is noisy or that it advertises Schwinn available from WalMart?

If it's Scott's Cyclery in Willimantic, CT....that's my shop. That is not the way they fit helmets BTW.

Glad you found it. Pretty easy thing to do. And you can add sites to the file if you still happen to get any pop-ups.

The excess of ads and video clips are ruining my enjoyment of this site. Having a Mac computer that does not accept the blocking option indicated above leaves me vulnerable to increasing delays when opening and scrolling through forums. Result: go riding and forget about posting.

So true. There are many, MANY news web sites that I go to that INSIST on loading some video that, frankly, I could give a crap about. I go there for the NEWS. Not to see the latest self-promoting video.
