There is a very interesting reason for the longer female life. The male smoking and drinking habits are enough to account for it.

Smoking linked to earlier male deaths

Funny how as we get older we always read the obituaries (at least I do). See a lot in there younger than me.

Well, according to Bill Cosby, husbands routinely die before their wives because once they die and go to heaven, their entire life is reviewed. So naturally they want to get up there and get that out of the way before their wife gets there!

Ride On!

I don't usually enjoy comedy videos, but that one was good.

For anyone serious about the question, here are the reasons why women live longer.

It turns out that male smoking and drinking habits are enough to account for the difference.

My wife is 11 years younger than I am, so I'm planning on going first.

I still don't read obits though; probably never will.

I remember noting many burial markers at St. Paul's Cathedral in London with the phrase "At his work." With the lower case "h", I'm guessing all of these guys keeled over on the job. No retirement back then.

The answer is not to get married. It seems to me that a man could live forever if he was smart enough to stay single.
However.

I also read that married men live longer than single men. So It seems to me if this one is true.... If you want to die a slow death ...

George Burns mentioned reading the obits every Saturday to see if his bridge game was still on for Sunday.

They are not allowed to die until the "Honey-dew" list is completed?

Remember Winston Churchill's reply to a woman who said, "If you were my husband, I would poison your tea."
"Madam, if I were your husband, I'd drink it."

Moral of story:- women should do all tasks involving lifting. I've no idea how this concept of the "fairer sex" getting off on all the light activities has arisen but it should stop NOW!

When we were teaching school a male student was bragging about being able to do more sit ups than anyone in the class. My wife listened to him for a few minutes then told him she would take him on (she had slacks on this day) and the ragging on him and disbelief of Monica poured out. They were started by a neutral student and the kid made about 45-50 sit ups. Monica finally quit at 75 because the kids were merciless on the student at this point (she was fully capable of doing 100+ in a sitting at this time.)

Moral of the story is don't question the abdominal muscles of someone that can expel a baby from their womb and come back for more. She pushed our two children out pretty fast too. Doctor got caught off guard both times saying she would be at least 4-5 hours more and he was going home to rest both times. Hah.

Bill
