I'm putting one out there and saying 400 miles at the National 24 Hour Challenge. That's 74 more than 2012, and a step toward my equally realistic 2015 PBP goal.

Good luck with the training and the ride.

My daughter lives in SF and is already signed up to ride that same event.

Good for her!

I volunteered as a "roadie" this year working in bike parking. There were 2,200 riders and about 500 roadies, so the support logistics providing three hearty meals a day for everyone, hot showers, medical staff, traffic monitors, tent and gear transportation from campsite to campsite, etc., is close to miraculous. It's a terrific experience for a great cause.

My first goal for 2013 is NOT to have the second annual ambulance-ride-on-Memorial-Day-because-I-dehydrated-and-bonked.

Other than that, I'm not sure. There's still a little of 2012 left.

ericm979 11-24-12 07:36 PM

I got two thirds and a second in races this year, my best finishes ever. I'd like to win one. I'd also like to improve on my placing in the Everest Challenge.
I might try to climb a million feet next year just so I can say I did it. I'm at 850k for 2012.

Mostly I'd like myself and my family to be healthy and happy.

Thanks--I appreciate that. Not being able to ride much (all I could do today was 4 min. on the trainer) can be very frustrating.

I'll have some 2013 goals put together before the end of Dec.

Ranger63 11-26-12 08:36 PM

My 2013 goal was...a two week tour of France.
Discovered I have to be 3 (in number) in order to go.
So: I'm looking at what's available thru the Cumberland region and maby the rolling hills and covered bridges of Pa.
I have all the mileage badges I want.
I'm not going to get any faster.
Time to see what's on the other side of the hill..or state or ........

DEK 11-27-12 12:57 PM

1. Ride more than I do in 2012.

2. Ride the Ride Without Limits again but try the 100 miles instead of the 62.

3. Do another charity ride besides the one in #2.

4. Enjoy riding more than I do now. :D

locolobo13 11-27-12 01:20 PM

Play more golf.
Start weightlifting again. First I have to move past a couple of joint issues.
Hike more hills.
Take better photos.

Oh yeah, bike related, I would like to do a century this next year.

First off is to stay healthy, ahead of the curves life throws, then motivated to keep on keeping on.:thumb:

I hope my easy miles are easy, the fun rides are fun, and the hard miles are really hard.

This past year was pretty good with around 7,000 miles riding and some decent race finishes. We built a velodrome in Cleveland this past summer and I really got into riding on the 50 degree banked track. I also did my first two mtb races this past year with the Iceman Cometh just a few weeks ago to close up the season. I seemed to have developed a pattern that I must break in 2013. This past year saw a 3rd/81 in the Barry-Roubaix gravel road race, 2nd in the State Masters Crit 55-59, two second places in the Ohio State Games in the 20 and 40K road races, and I finished it off with a 2nd in the Ohio Masters Cyclocross Champs in the 60+. Being close for a State Jersey is really not much better than last place.

Next year’s goals are lofty as I will focus/work harder to get gold in the important races. I'm also qualified for the National Senior Games to be held in my local area, and also intend to race in the Master's National Track Championships in individual events and on a pursuit team.

Ride 5000 miles and participate in the 2013 CRMBT.

I'll wait for you at the finish line.

'Cause it sounds like you'll be lapping me!

I haven't ever done the 24-hr challenge, but I'm hoping for 300. I did a different 24-hour ride a few months ago. It was rained out, but I like to think I would have made 300 easily.

Damn - your non-bike activities are exactly the same as mine - right down to the joint issues!

I did just over 300 in 2012, but there was no easily about it. Crazy to think I can do 400 but I like goals of questionable possibility.

You'll likely find me at a patisserie enjoying a croissant.

Yep. Joint issues bite! Hope yours get better.

Boudicca 11-28-12 01:38 PM

I never measured my miles this year. One bike had no computer, and I forgot where I started the mileage on the other two.

I now have a Garmin that works on all three bikes, so I have no excuse.

Goals:
Enjoy every single ride I do
Get stronger on the hills
Start commuting earlier in the season, end later and add on a few miles every now and then
Don't wimp out

Boudicca 11-28-12 01:38 PM

Oh, and get the shingles shot. I got shingles in August, which pretty much knocked my bike season cold and the damn rash still hurts and itches for large chunks of the time.

crazyb 11-28-12 01:39 PM

My goal is to not break anything. Broke my back in a cyclocross race back in October. Not fun.

Bob Ross 11-28-12 03:42 PM

My 2013 goal is simple:

Ride at least 100% as much as I did in 2012, and crash 100% less than I did in 2012.

bent4me 11-28-12 04:59 PM

Will hit 6,000 this yr. Best ever. My goal for 2013 is not to have a goal. Just enjoy the ride!

kenmcchord 11-28-12 11:34 PM

  1. 3000+ miles for the year
  2. Complete the Assault on Mount Mitchell in May.
  3. Ride the Livestrong century challenge in Philly in the late summer.
  4. Weigh less than 195lbs before the spring.

Beyond that stay happy and healthy.

jpfankuch 12-01-12 01:53 PM

My goal is to ride in the MS Best Dam Bike Ride in Wisconsin next August. I'm not sure whether I'll be able to go 50, 70 or 100 miles per day but I want to do one of them. I only started riding this fall and today I found out I'm not yet ready to ride 45 miles without my knees aching. It was still fun getting out there though.

It's the fun (from whatever turns one on) that keeps ya' comin' back for more....
... The goals take second place.

lookinUp 12-01-12 02:42 PM

2013 GOALS:

Ride my age - 72 miles
Shoot my age in golf
Ride 5000 miles (rode 4000+ in 2012)
Stay on the topside of the grass for another year (hopefully more)
Be grateful for every day
Above all, have FUN!

I'm just looking forward to next summer's weekend ride up the Connecticut coast. I do this every year, but I think I've finally found the perfect route.
