Took out the Mule Train for it's first ride today.
Took the Kettweisel's out to Lakeside Park today. It took a bit of figuring but we managed to get both inside our Honda Element. Unloading, reconfiguring and hitching them together and changing shoes is about a 15 minute process. That's not too bad.
We didn't ride very far but our trail included a short unpaved under construction section. The Ketts handle rough roads much better than I expected. I don't have a speedometer yet but I'm thinking our average speed was comparable to what we had previously managed on the Screamer. All-in-all, I'm satisfied.
(Mule Team stands for Missouri Union of Longbike Enthuiasts. It must be a tandem club because it certainly isn't an organization. I'm happy that linking 2 Kettweisels together into a train keeps us qualified members.)

I'm sorry. I futzed with the process for about a half hour today before getting too frustrated to continue. I know that it's a simple process for most of you and that I'll eventually figure it out, but today isn't the day.

Do you plan on packing the wheel to take along for those times you just want to cruise around a bit separately? How easy are they to get past a MUP blocking post or gate in partial closed position?

The 20" front wheel has a QR so packing it along in the car isn't an issue. We haven't worked out what kind of bags or whatever we want for a typical day ride but I kind of don't picture us carrying the extra front wheel with us while we ride. I definitely think that we'll want to bring it with us in the car for a week long vacation.
I'd definitely be up for another ride together sometime either with or without pie. We generally do either a 28 or a 32 mile loop that starts and ends at the Culvers on Horseshoe Lake Road.
