Am I allowed to post in here as 6 years until 50. I started dying my grey a long time ago. :)

Posting? Not a problem. :thumb: :welcome

Now dying the grey********** I just buzzed mine off to make things cooler under the helmet instead of the constant color upkeep.

I'm the new one around here so I'll spring for the drinks anyway.

I used to have really short hair, but it grew out so now I go for the crazy redhead look.

I used to prescribe bitters and ginger ale.

Celebrated a little too much yesterday... I am not sure if it was the whiskey or the Drambuie.

Now I can stop sneaking in here with the fake I.D.

Welcome aboard, Most just put the information in to their member profile, and we can pick up on your thoughts. Your list looks pretty nice to me. No real right or wrong to things like that here. Stick around, and just post as you feel like sharing with us, in a new thread, or as a reply to an existing one. We are pretty easy going about things, not sticklers for any protocols or such.

A little hair of the dog usually does it - or at least makes me forget about the hangover :thumb:

Got another impulsive urge.
I find myself being drawn to older bikes these days, no interest in anything new.
R531SL frameset, seems very light for it's age.

I'd give in to that impulse. I mean ... it's better than affair or telling your boss to pound sand, eh?

I find myself really enjoying the steel frame bike I've been riding. I've even toyed with the notion of taking off the brifters and going with downtube shifters.

Brifters are probably better for the vast majority of riders, but if you started cycling with downtube shifters (yeeeks, brifters have been around 20 yrs or so), there is a certain satisfaction with clean, no-look friction shifts and of course the nostalgia of it all.

Me, I've always been 'against the grain' a bit and walked into many a boss' office with recommendations, often to be told to 'go pound sand'. Not sure if vintage bicycles are better than an affair (never tried an affair), but I've been told the affairs always cost much more.

edit: looking at your list of bikes, you've got great choices. Care to share a pic of the 'Nago?

There is - and there's also a robustness to downtube shifters that make them good for bikes that get ridden in rain and slop... stuff that makes brifters clog up.

Vic, as beautiful as that 'Nago is, please tell me you have that front skewer on the opposite side now. Man, you sure got a fantastic score with that Nago, I have dreams about it.

IRISH HUMOR
Old Murphy had worked in the mines beginning as a young lad. After many years of breathing coal dust he was on his death bed and was not expected to last another day. Neighbors had begun bringing food for the expected visitors as they paid their last respects. His wife was in the kitchen baking a ham for the visitors and as she did so, a wonderful aroma wafted throughout their cottage. Old Murph began to rally a bit and called out, "How about a piece of that fine ham, Meg". She replied, "Go on now. You know that's for the wake."

As told by Frank McCourt during an interview on NPR

IRISH HUMOR

I just bought an Irish bike. So, I'll add to the Irish humor.

Walking into the pub, Patrick said to the bartender,
"Pour me a stiff one, Sean. I just had another tiff with
the little woman."
"Oh yeah," said Sean. "And how did this one end?"
"Well I'll tell ya now -- when it was over," Patrick replied, "herself came
to me on her hands and knees, she did."
"You don't say? Now that`s a switch! What did she say?"
She said, "Come out from under that bed, you gutless weasel!

Methinks you have been inspired by Nikki. A shame too, now that she's gone all carbon Merckx and Dura Ace!

I lived on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi for about 10 years and enjoyed the experience a great deal. The people are lively and fun and usually very courteous. For example, if being passed by someone on the street, you will get a "good morning" or "afternoon" or a" Jesus loves you". On PBS there was a program I particularly enjoyed where a Cajun, named Tommy Joe Brough, originally from Brough Bridge Louisiana, and with an accent as thick as gumbo, told stories about his home town and friends and family.

One story was about Tutu La Fouche and his cousin Edouward. Dey took it into dere heads to go goose hunting in Wiskonson, even though dey had never been out of Louisiana. So dey load up dere truck and set off. Dey get dere and find a good lake to hunt. As dey look around, suddenly dey see an ultralight plane buzzing overhead.
"Cousin Tutu, do you see what I see? Look at the size of muskeetos here.

"I see dat Edouward - but look. It's got aholt of that poor fellow in it's claws. We can't let dat muskeetow devout dat poor fellow, even if he is a yankee. We is got to rescue him."

So dey blast away with shotguns and in less than a minute that ultralight is just tatters slowly spiraling down. Well dat felow was well bloodied and lived but vowed to avoid Cajuns for the rest of his life.
