Horses are usually nervous around bikes but even with loud i9 hubs these guys swaggered up to the fence as soon as they saw me coming. I guess when you are that big you don't have much to fear. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...b4db93d4bd.jpg This was a photo fail... https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f814dddc0b.jpg -Tim- |

My neighbor bought a trick bike today. The first thing he did was load up the family and go joy riding...

Apparently, some bike riders were ignoring the signs and riding through the construction zone. Imagine that!

Not sure what we’re looking at other than my Gianni Motta in front of someone’s idea of roadside art. :) |

From today’s ride in the Brushy Mountains in NC
There is supposed to to be a trace of purple wisteria in the photo below Found this beside the mountain road I was riding. For some reason it made me think of the movie “Deliverance”. I didn’t hang around too long. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...676e110ac.jpeg Perfect day for 6000’ of hills! https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f280f2486.jpeg Introduced my new disc brake bike and relatively new hip to some steep hills. 6000’ of climbing over 40 miles with a lot of 10%++ grades. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...031e90285.jpeg There’s a natural spring in there if you’re brave enough to open the door! https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9813e7081.jpeg Spring at 2500’ in NC! https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...35719d3b8.jpeg Nice stream just before a 15% Hill. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...b70e227b7.jpeg |

The smile you get when that 16% grade is in your rear view mirror. |

What low gear are you using on those 15% climbs? Great looking Cervelo, btw. |

What low gear are you using on those 15% climbs? Great looking Cervelo, btw. Here are the cogs for the 11-34 cassette: 11-13-15-17-19-21-23-25-27-30-34T On the hills in the photos, for training and to increase power I typically try and ride in the 36-30 and let my cadence drop to around 55. I’ll admit that since this was my first ride on the steeper stuff since the hip replacement I used the 36-34 a time or two. I’d definitely be in the granny gear if it were a longer ride. The bike rode GREAT. It’s stiffer.....but not jarring stiff where every bump jars your bones and joints. With it being stiffer it’s super solid which you really notice and enjoy on descents. I have new lightweight carbon disc wheels that only weigh 1320 grams on it. The rims are a little wider which provides a great footprint for a more narrow road tire. With a 25 mm tire, hydraulic disc brakes and the stiffer frame it descends like a dream. While I’ve always had different bikes for different needs I could easily get rid of the others and just use this one for all my riding (except TTs). The disc brakes are definitely a keeper. Now if I could only get another pound or so off the bike weight...... Way more than you asked for but I got on a roll........ |

Today I did a good old fashioned group ride through the Georgia countryside.
Weather was spectacular. Scenery sublime. Great company. Everyone shared the work and we beat each other up pretty good on the hills. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...273f22d643.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...85d37b9317.jpg |
