Spent a few days in Quebec recently ... obviously, the place sucks. I learned something new from this sucky view too. When there is a double rainbow, the colors in the outer rainbow are in reverse order from the inner rainbow. I think this is the first time the outer rainbow has been clear enough to notice that.

Amphicar. The first time I saw one was at Hansen Dam and I was about 13. Yes, Hansen Dam had a lake with water skiing. I saw the Amphicar drive down the boat ramp and then drive across the water. I was shocked.

They're quite cool! I want one. lol

I should have taken this pix from a lower perspective ... you should have seen the propellers!

That car looks showroom! They're for sale on Hemmings. Saw one for $30K. Huell Howser did a show where he went out on a lake in one.

Someone makes a modified Jeep which goes in the water. Jay Leno had a pair of them on his show. The wheels fold up and they go fast on the water.

It was really great! They must have upgraded it because our room was quite nice. I should have taken a pix of the inside for posterity before we messed it up. lol

Quebec is way cool. If it were more convenient to the west coast, I would be a frequent visitor. Beautiful city and how refreshing to hear French spoken about.

this car must have burned last night as it was not there when I went home. I love the tow warning on that I am sure someone will drive it off right away.

Originally I read your post about Quebec City with a sucky view and thought, are you kidding me? one of the prettiest places in N. America but reading through the sarcasm. Quite the contrast from where fooferdoggie is riding! Maybe the owner of that car parked in a reserved spot?

I have a photo of Rue du Petit Champlain (same street as your other photo) from back in the day. There's a Renault 5 (Le Car) in the background. You used to see quite a few French cars back then.

There was a plaque in the lobby of the Frontenac about how Churchill and Roosevelt met there during World War II. I wanted to put a sticky note on it with this addendum: "and they haven't changed a damned thing since." It took a couple of months to get my money back.

I agree that Quebec City is way cool. It's the closest thing to being in Europe while staying on this continent. So much history. We enjoyed Montreal, too. Great food scene.

went up a nice 2000 foot climb to council crest in portland lots of rich peoples houses on the side of hills. but at the top they had one port potty that had not been served in who knows how long it was almost overflowing. hard to get pics because of so many trees and the road had no shoulders to stop on.
