The Grant telescope at Lowell Observatory, installed in the late 1800’s. Interesting note. The dome was designed and built by two brothers that owned a bicycle shop in Flagstaff. Percival Lowell saw a sign outside their shop that said “We can build anything”.

Is the ride from Connellsville to Whitsett a good one ? that would be cool to check out that house
unwelcome drama on the return trip : flatted
… odd because I never flat - and had just installed new tubes because the old tubes appeared to be ready to fail (see recent tpu tube thread)gets better - pulled spare tube out and I had the wrong tube packed - packed a 26” tube (for my Slate) and not a 700c tube …

gets even better - also pack spare tube for mrs t2p bike - pull the tube out and it’s a 700x23/25 tube … wth … and a tube larger than that tube had just failed in my 700x40 tire after just 20 miles or so …

but at this point the 700x23/25 tube was the only option … had to pump it up a fair amount or I would pinch flat - but too much and the tube would fail …

tire did not seat properly on the rim because of the small tube so I pogoed up the long gentle climb from just south of Connellsville to Ohiopyle …
… 15 miles or so … ughhh that long climb did become annoying
did I mention it was getting late and sun had set ? and of course the one phone we had was getting low
