Convict Lake is really beautiful. Oy, that is NOT a lot of snow for that time of year! :(

Snow pack is quite low in the area, and Early March was warmer than usual, so the snow line was higher than normal and depth very low.
Convict lake is at 7800 ft, and the surrounding peaks at 11,000 ish ft....
Thankfully, the storm of about 10 days ago added significant snow above 7K ft...
Hopefully there'll be a few more storms thru April. March & April are usually the most consistent and heaviest snow months in that region...
Ride On

EDIT: Heading up again on Sunday for 5 days....

Got out the 914-6 today to blow out the cobwebs for Spring. Driving it certainly didn’t blow. (It really needs a bath since it has 5 months of dust)

Rode up Uppity the other day on the way to Rattlesnake Lake - on the return, diverted off Uppity to the forbidden “Reserve” road (gated community above Uppity), and it was a good downhill ride with lots of curves and a brief climb at the end to get back to Uppity. Strava shows lots of miscreants enjoying that road.

Oh, my! 💕

My kids are harassing me about buying a new car. I drive an 03 WRX wagon, and one of the reasons I’m not keen to move on is that it is hard to find anything similar to replace it. So many autos are as boring as a toaster. It’s hard to find anything at all that even has a stick! The Toyota GRCorolla is about the one exception.

Anyway … sweet car, but especially with that 6!

The WRXs are wonderful cars, regardless of vintage. I would drive it until the wheels fall off.

I went back today to the same local Mixed use park. but a shorter route (my regular trails were closed yesterday for trail work) but two big findings...

ONE: Tire Pressure.
This was my third ride on new 27ID wheels and new tires. I had the rear Ralph but slightly smaller. but their big difference was the Racing Ray 2.35 from the previous Nobby Nic, 2.35 (which was on a 30ID rim) I am not a fast rider but I ride some steep trails and this route was very familiar to me. the Ray was not as grippy as the the NN on one section. it was very obvious. Wow, it was fun to experiment.
But on the tire pressure point. I have read that smaller rims will need higher pressures for the same feel. so I increased slightly. yesterday I rode the same trail with 24psi from and 25 rear.. I was was sliding on the loose over hard dirt. but it is a bit moist. so very good overall.
Again I am not a racer (a.k.a. slow) but I can feel the difference.,

TWO: many shades of purple!
I noticed that the two photos I posted above had very different flower colors. I am clueless on flowers. But I am designer, so I know my colors. Today I found out why! Two very different flowers!

I had a great ride. beautiful landscape and challenging climbs. that is all I need. Back in time to make a quick dinner.

Flower wise, the deeper color is wild sweet pea and the other is lupine. Great time of the year for wild flowers.

As seen along the Seattle Waterfront on Friday on my way to the Bainbridge Island ferry.
Some high-end matching color DPS Wailer Skis in the rack give it that extra touch of excess.
