Any pictures from Sicily yet?
Here is one of the medieval town of Cefalu ... on the Northern coast of Sicily. Very cool place. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...psyqq2mycv.jpg And here is one of my grandparents home town ... Ciminna, up in the mountainous region, about 35 miles from Palermo. They are famous for their festivals, which is what those light bars are about. We were viewed with great suspicion when we arrived, but when they were told why we were there, we became familiga. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...ps9zfvuz6r.jpg Sicily has some of the best Greek ruins to be seen. These were at Agrigento. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...pspe1eobus.jpg And of course, it's all about the food. Here is the best cannoli I've ever eaten ... and I've had plenty! http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...pspinqjaz3.jpg Sicily rocked! As did Napoli and the Amalfi Coast. Flippin beautiful! |
Nice!

Wine was similarly inexpensive. And boy ... did I take advantage of that!

Rode out to Camp 9 (North of Los Angeles) with some friends Saturday AM. We rode up Little Tujunga Canyon Road, which is a nice little climb.
The area is interesting. A lot of Mexican families that go waaaay back and a lot of horses. And we happened to catch a procession in honor of the Lady of Guadalupe (always on December 12). I love this stuff. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...psms3jhv62.jpg |

Heck, if you are on photobucket, maybe he's seen these. |

Oh yes! I didn't do any riding out there ... the weather was too iffy for this wimp. But I got plenty of pix.

Beautiful this morning, but much chillier than it looks here. Yea it was only 35, but I'm a wimp.

A couple of people I see at my frequent coffee stop in Cardiff Bay. They ride across from the next town and don't usually dress like this - not aerodynamic and soaks up the rain. This morning they brought a smile to loads of people.

A couple photos from today's ride "over the hills and through the woods" to the in-laws via Gold Hill and High Rock Dam. Wispy clouds, low winds and a rather pleasant 52 degrees. Fresh BBQ was my incentive. I was pleasantly surprised at how well I rode considering yesterday's pretty tough 100 miler in lots of headwinds. Finished off a 200 mile week so nice training in NC for December.

Been chilly (for us) lately, so we did a short little ride around the peninsula for the morning. Here's two of my favorite people at the viewpoint:

In some ways it's cruel to see photos of blue skies and bare (although sometimes gravel) roads. Out west and north of the 49 we've spent the last few days shovelling, shovelling and more shovelling. At least it looks pretty. If there's a silver lining to all the snow, it's the extra time indoors to work on the current bike projects.

A generic ride to a generic Resort is great on a generic Seattle-ish winter day.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=496500 Our wetlands are safe for the time being - lots of Canadian honkers around, by my count. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=496501 Tranquil winter afternoon @ Lake Samammish. I rode the sunny East side of the lake. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=496502 |
I just discovered a whole bunch of photos on my camera that I neglected to download to the computer. This one caught my eye - it's from back in May when we visited our son in Montreal. We rented bikes and rode the Tour d'Ille de Montreal. Great memories.
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1454/...59b9c458_c.jpg There were 25,000 cyclists at the Tour d'Ille de Montreal - everyone from moms and dads with kids bikes in tow, to the roadies. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1481/...5014baed_z.jpg |
