Went from cold and record late break up of rivers and record flooding from record ice jams to HEAT. Not that long ago it was -55F. Now it is +85F and forecast to go into mid-nineties today. That will either break a record or come close. Forecast to stay this way for at least a week!

I can put on a coat when it is cold. I can huddle with the other member of the family or borrow a dog when it is cold. But, I can't take off enough clothes to get cool when it is hot like this. Plus, there is a real danger of scaring little kids if I don't keep the body covered.

Now, to you desert rats this may not seem hot. But, to me it is so oppressive today I found myself wishing for winter!

Oh yes, should keep this with a cycling twist.
Wednesday I'm planning on riding with a neat group of guys. They are all much faster, younger and better looking. But, riding with them is fun. Don't need this additional handicap.

I used to live in the desert, contrary to all the jokes, the dry does make a big difference. When in 115 degree heat your nose feels the heat as you inhale but because of the dry you stay dry, the sweat just never has time to accumulate. I now live in Iowa, when its more than 75 degrees the humidity climbs to the higher percentages and by the time you hit the mid 80s i'm ready to melt and not too much longer everything I'm wearing is sopping wet. Sometimes I'm so tempted to go back to the desert. I had thyroid cancer which makes temp changes rough on me, and I've always had trouble with humidity. I lived in Bullhead City AZ and it is usually the hot spot of the nation or maybe a degree lower. Big thing to remember, bring LOTS of water with you.

Sounds like a very continental climate. Where I live, in weather wimp southern California, persistence is statistically the best forecast of tomorrow's weather.
