Orange juice is one of the best electrolyte replacement drinks. I have used half OJ and half water in my bottle with very good results. You can also make your own recipe; several are published on the Internet.

I've used Gatorade G2 lo cal and like it just fine.
It will be clear (as opposed to cloudy) liquid in bottles with pale orange caps.
Works for me. 24oz every 20 miles or so.

When my wife was severely dehydrated after a bout of the flu the doc said dilute Gatorade half with water. By the time she drank the second of 3 16 oz bottles over a period of 4 hours she was right as rain. Couldn't believe it worked that fast. She doesn't dilute by half but maybe a third and when she runs or does her daily excercise she has no ill effects. I can't stand the stuff I keep bananas around and eat one before I ride and one after. Just drink water but I don't ride as hard as other either so my method my not work so well for you.

I use G2 cut about 50/50 with water, then add a hefty pinch of salt. For potassium, I'm beginning to like coconut water. Cico gave the stuff away at my last triathlon (95+ degrees) and I never had a cramp afterwards, which I often do.

I sometimes use Nuun tabs. It is a tab you drop in your water bottle. Other than that I use Heed.

+1 for NUUN.

It has all the good stuff in Gatorade, but none of the bad stuff (i.e. no colorants, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, etc.). Also - because it's in the form of a tablet you dissolve in water, it's very convenient to carry and use - no messing with powders etc.

I once had a VERY serious bonking / dehydration on a 180-mile ride. My LBS put me onto Nuun and it's served me very well on extremely long and hot rides, as well on as on extremely long and hot ***** and mountain climbs.

Like AmEx ... I won't leave home without it.
