Judith Durhan of the Seekers singing group
I know that this has nothing to do with cycling but we of the 50 and over group Im sure listened to the Seekers singing group. Judith Durham the lead lady singer has had bleeding on the brain, and could use all of our prayers. She is now in rehab and is reported doing well.
If you dont know who they are or have forgotten what they sang, go to youtube and type in the seekers. They had a very unique sound.

Folkies, but closer to pop. Their 60s hits include:
-A world of our own
-Georgie Girl.
-I'll never find another you
Brings back fond memories of a hand-held "transistor radio". I'm not sure if they ever appeared on the Ed Sullivan show or not. Anyone?
Here's hoping Judith makes a good recovery.

Judith Durham is one of the finest pop singers of her generation, and her voice has held up well over a 50-year career. The Seekers were Australia's first pop superstars.

At least you could understand what they were singing and there was a melody. My neighbor says today music sounds like an 18 wheeler loaded with empty milk cans being T-boned by an 18 wheeler full of hogs. Nothing but banging and clanging and squealing.

Thanks for bringing back the memories Rydabent. Nice little group that I'd forgotten about. I just can't remember where I saw them on American TV but I'm sure I did somewhere. Judith is said to be making a recovery, btw.

Absolutely. She could have been a country singer. Still has a great voice.

People who are no longer Young (I'm no longer young) have been criticizing 'today's music' since time immemorial. I appreciate music that is pleasant/pleasing/smooth/melodic, etc. but also enjoy listening to distorted cacophony.

Judith Durham is my all-time favorite and IMO the greatest vocalist in the history of recorded music. Judith has always been just as much at home with jazz and gospel as with folk music, and you can hear elements of those genres in this awesome performance:

Here are The Seekers seamlessly adapting their folk hit "The Music Of The World A-Turning" to the big band sound. The horns and percussion near the end have perfect timing, but as usual, the clear-as-a-bell voice of Judith Durham steals the show.

You probably didn't much appreciate the Sex Pistols, I would guess.

Bobby "Blue" Bland has always been one of my favorites. Saw and heard him perform in a small club in Philadelphia in the early 70's. He had a great R&B voice and stage presence.
Turn on Your Love Light and I Pity the Fool are my favorites from his repertoire.

It seems like a lot of riders here are getting of an age that many of the entertainers we really liked are gone, or getting to the point they no longer perform. Sad.
