Keep in mind that as your muscles get in worse shape from not doing the activities due to pain, etc., the recovery will be harder. My wife's doc (2 TKRs) stated don't wait too long so your body is still in good shape.

Hi again. You are clearly aware of your body and what you are doing. As such only you can decide when if ever is appropriate.
We each process pain differently through our respective filters. Yes there are Psycho-social factors in play. There is also much we don't know about medicine. Didn't you say earlier the worst knee per X-rays doesn't hurt you the most. This explains why docs can say we appear to qualify for TKR when our bodies tell us something different.
I did TKR and have been so pleased. Don't believe any harm is done by waiting but might check. You know we are always the ones who know best about ourselves.
