Suddenly I's Spring
Just like it says in the Farmer's Almanac, March came in like a lion, with much miserable bike riding weather, and April is a lamb. Yesterday was a very awesome day. In fact, it was a John Denver, Rocky Mountain High sort of day. It began with a clear, cloudless sky and a hint of chill in the air and ended in a fine, warm Spring day. On the return leg, I stopped at the town sport complex, with baseball and soccer fields full of kids.
It reminded me of when I was the same age playing baseball in a hayfield. We didn't have organized sports with adult supervision but somehow we always knew when it was time to play ball. The neighborhood boys would mysteriously and spontainiously show up on a Sunday with gloves, several bats and an old baseball covered with electricians friction tape. Flat rocks from the nearest stone wall were the bases.

Yes it is. Took a walk along the Snake River greenbelt here in Boise and saw lots of runners, walkers, and bicyclists (including several that had their child or dogs in tow with trailers. Not too cold, not too hot, along with sun and high clouds made for a good day to get out.

Ah, the Snake River greenbelt! My wife & I stopped at a motel in Boise on the way back from the Moab Skinny Tire Festival. Before the drive back to Mt. Vernon, WA, and then Vancouver, BC, we rode a couple of hours to and along the greenbelt just after sunrise. It was a clear day, but it was pretty bloody cold, about 0 to 1 deg C. Hope it's much warmer now.
Here in Vancouver, the daily highs have gone from about 3 deg C to about 18, around room temperature, yesterday, which was great for the traditional season opener, the Pacific Populaire (100 km). No more worries about icy roads; now we get the spring rain and winds!
