If you use electrical tape or duct tape over the bar tape to protect it from your cast wrap it with the sticky side our or you will likely never get it off your bar tape.

I was really unhappy with my LizardSkin purchase. I put it on in February when I built up my bike. I put about 10 hours on the trainer and then about 100 miles on the road and it became worn down near the right hand hood. I've replaced it with some cheaper stuff since I've never had any issue with premature wear on cheap tape.

Which of the two thicknesses did you use?

I do, but I'll be damned if I'm giving them another $40 in the hopes that their other product isn't as bad as the one I purchased.

Oh good grief, just go to Nashbar and spend the 6.99 for the black namebrand tape. It lasts at least two seasons. You might be disappointed if the subject of who has the most expensive bartape comes up at the next pie ride.

I prefer Planet Bike tape since it's long-wearing, comfortable and easy to wrap/install. The colors are clean-able (I use Simple Green) but the black is the best for no maintenence.

Heck if I was spending $40 on bar tape, I would expect a 30m roll.....

I generally pick up 3-4 packages of bar tape at a time when I find them on sale, but am not too particular about brands. I like Cinelli, but have recently been using REI's Novara gel tape. I replace the tape on our touring bikes every year before the start of our tours which amounts to about 3,500 miles per year on those bikes. We put in a lot of long days and fresh tape is nice. The tape on our road bikes will generally last 2-3 seasons. I do not like the adhesive backed tape because the tape is usually destroyed and leaves a sticky mess on the bars if it has to be unwrapped for some reason.

I have had more expensive tape, but I like the Bontrager tape in black.

White tape is silliness for a rider.
