Was flat free then accumulated 4 over a two day period all back wheel. A check of the wheel rim and the tubes found nothing obvious, a change to lizard skin tyres and the problems ended as quick as they had started. I do know it is a matter of time before it happens again though.

Man, a thread where the OP is upset about all of 2 flats over a good stretch of riding. I recall some threads during the goat's head thorn season out west where they were stopping counting how many they had gotten. I sense a real karma episode coming on here, and it could well be me that gets stung, too.

One thing you might want to add to the two tubes you are carrying is a simple patch kit, just in case, and a paper currency bill, your choice of the denomination, of course, to use as a boot in case you have a carcass cut in a tire and want to boot it. Or, even one of the Park Tool tire boots in your pocket or bag. A dollar bill has gotten me through a ride and safely back home a few times.

Hopefully this is the last for a while for you, enjoy the miles, a flat or two is a small price to pay for what we gain from riding, to me.

Bill

I know I'm tweaking the nose of the flat fairy every time I say it, but I don't remember how many years it's been since I had a flat. Schwalbe Marathon and Marathon Plus tires on most of the fleet.

It's pretty hard even to be civil to somebody who complains about two flats in a summer. If you lived here in thorn country, you'd have two or three a week/150 miles. Our goatheads laugh at your pitiful Kevlar.

Bikes: I don't own any bikes

Speaking of thorns... went out to the garage Saturday to fix the flats; sick of bikes, decided to hike that evening... Came back Sunday, as I had a ride planned, and one of the front tire (which wasn't flat ) was flat! Spent my Sunday converting all the wheels to "Stan's". I now have about 10 tubes to patch just in case I go back to that method.

I'm probably going to stay on the road and not do trail for awhile. Here, in So. Cal., because of the drought, Russian Thistle has exploded and is clodding most of the trails. It's almost impossible to mountain bike without flatting. Hoping the remaining hot summer, and then a good wind and some rain will clean the trails up and get rid of the thorns...

As for the road I am generally OK, few flats but did have two in succession for some reason.

Uber thick thorn resistant tubes weigh more than most people are willing to accept, but ..
I did a 9 month Bike tour .. SW Ireland to NE Scotland, with out a puncture.. Zero.
