Hello older guys!
Hi 50+ folks! I am 57 and finally got back on the Cervelo on Sat after breaking my back in July. Doc gave the okidoky and I got a bunch of winter kits and went for it! Felt GOOD! The worst part is the sit bones are not what they used to be!LOL The back did well and the legs worked but not what they were either. It's amazing how fast you lose it compared to how long it takes to get it!LOL was pretty chilly,31F. Felt like Brain Freeze most of the time.
Was looking at the PA ride in Oct and may consider that . Depends on the back. I like the 50+ forum, Good to hear other folks my age talking about riding.

Hi Bill,
Welcome to BF! I see you're in Arnold. Where did you get your Cervelo? Mine came from Fresh Bikes in Arlington. This is a great group of riders here and you'll enjoy it all. Posters are very civil and it's fun. Glad you found it

Welcome to the place, from another Bill, sorry about the back, I can empathize about them very well, and I have the titanium to show for it. Hope to see you around the asylum more often, there are a lot of great folks here, many with health related issues like yours, to chat with and learn from.

Welcome youngster. Good reading your recovery went well and now you are ready for miles on the bike instead of in the car for Dr. visits.
Got no problem with being referenced as older guy since at my workplace in the previous century my fellow employees thought I was older than dirt.

great comeback, thanks for sharing. you gotta cover that head though, right? I use a variety of things under the helmet, and even a clear cheap motel style shower cap over the helmet to regulate temperature

Oldscool: Completely meant as a compliment! I am proud that the Good Lord has seen fit to keep me around this long in spite of the dumb things I sometimes do. Like learning to mountain bike at age 56 = broken back! Dad said I would not make it to 21!HA
Stanseven: I got mine at bike dr in Arnold. They were real good to deal with. Got the S5 with a kit, lifetime tune ups and their $350 fitting for 2k, Couldn't beat it with a stick. Was in the right place at the right time. Was heading to the hub to look at a Giant defy with DI2 and stopped to get a cup of coffee and ran into Steve the owner of bike dr. He said he had to show me something to save me a trip(LOL). Rode it for about 5 miles in the snow and was in love!!!

Welcome to the forums! I am no treeknocker though I live in an epicenter for such. I'm addicted to speed, the two wheeled kind.
I'm 57.

Welcome from another "old timer".
I'm 70. In the cooler months I feel much older
and in the warmer months I feel much younger.
Go figure.

Congratulations on getting back on the bike and best of luck with the recovery times.
In reply to everyone else here: it's too late to die young now, so may as well keep going as long as possible.

Medicare-eligible in a week but none for me, thanks! Still working and will stay with employer's insurance.
Welcome! and keep riding but don't overdo it as you get back in shape. We lose fitness faster than we gained it but we can get it back with continued efforts.

Geez, now you made me go look up who else was born in 53. Turns out I'm almost a month older than John Malkovich. Now I do feel old.
