just got "refit"

My wife and I just got into biking, she has had a bike before but we thought it would be a good family thing. Anyway I bought my bike about 3 weeks ago and I have been uncomfortable when I ride, not just the sit bones but all over. Took the bike back where I bought it and asked them to recheck the fit and sure enough it was one size to small. They traded me for a bigger bike and I took it for a quick 5 miles tonight(keep in mind I've only been ridding for a few weeks) but what difference it made, feels like the bike is so much faster..I'm sure its because of the fit and I'm not wasting energy. Sorry for the long post but just wanted to say I'm a huge believer in getting a proper fit.

Mark.

I'm glad your new fit has worked out for you. Be aware that as cycling fitness improves and as you find yourself riding more miles, your best fit on the bike will likely evolve as well. In other words, your best fit on the bike is a moving target that changes with more miles. After a while you may find yourself wanting to tweak things a bit here and there. I found that marking the seat post and rails and handlebar with a dot from a whiteout pen let me make changes and easily get back to the original position if that change did not work out. Making such marks may be a good idea anyway because sometimes setting just slip on their own and you may not be aware of that unless unless there is a reference point.
