Bike fitting during Covid
I’m looking at a 2019 Trek Domane but I live in a rural area. LBS doesn’t currently have the Domane in shop but can deliver next week from main shop when they make the trip. I’m 5’9” (tops) and torn between 54” or the 56”. I’ll be able to ride to check comfort but not for another week at least and not sure if they’ll help with fitting during Covid. Just curious what similar size folks think. My inseam is probably 30-31”.

Well instead of supposing what the shop will do as far as fitting it to you, why don't you ask them?
I would think they would at least get your saddle height in the ball park, let you get on it and then readjust as necessary. You want a slight bend in your knee as you pedal. If your leg gets stretched out near the limits of your knee, then you will eventually have quite a few issues.
Likely the only other thing you can do is change the bar height. Or at least as far as simple things with a post purchase fit, which shouldn't be expected to be a "fitting".
If you aren't going to be riding for hours at a time, I wouldn't get too worried about the perfect fit. There'll be time to work on it as you get into bike riding shape and gain the experience to describe what you are doing and feeling.

I'm probably way too late to this, but I ride a Domane and am 5'8, 32" inseam, 54cm frame.
