Between two sizes

I'm planning on buying a Linus Roadster Sport in about a month: City bikes, vintage bicycles, european bicycles, retro bikes, linus bike, commuter bikes, vintage bikes, city bikes, european bikes, retro bicycles, commuter bicycles, roadster - Linus Bike

I'm effectively about 5'3" tall. I currently ride a Trek 1200 that has a 20.5" seat tube, 20.5" top tube and a 30.5" standover height and 700c wheels. It seems to suit me; I don't hit anything sensitive when I come off the saddle, though just.

I was originally assuming I needed a "small" based on a sizing chart that spits out 48cm based on my inseam. Linus says it's suitable for 5' - 5'4", with the Medium beginning at 5'4". However, now that I've cross-compared my current Trek with the Linus, it seems my current bike is actually much more like the Medium than the small!

Small: 48cm/18 3/4" seat tube - top tube length unknown - 26" wheel - 28.5" standover
Medium: 51cm/20" seat tube - 21.8" effective top tube length - 700c wheel - 30" standover

So I'm wondering if maybe the "Small" might be too small, and I wouldn't get a good pedal stroke (which is what seat tube length is more or less supposed to tell us I think), ride comfort, etc. Might be easier to mount under load, however, as this will be a utility oriented bike, and the smaller tyres do mean there's less likelihood of toe overlap, I'd think (unless the top tube is proportionally shorter to the change in tyre size!).

Thoughts?
