Cervelo S5 Size - 51 or 54?
Firstly, I want to thank the forum for all the great information and resources! So, thanks guys!
Onto the fit… I've been measured right at 5'9" barefoot, but I feel more comfortable saying I'm 5'8"... However, my limbs are a bit short for my height. My cycling inseam is around 30" (give or take .25") depending on how "firmly" the saddle/book spine/whatever is pressed up against my crotch. (And that's the thing, my adductors in relation to my more private anatomy leave me cramped for room to begin with, let alone with my kit on.) Arm length is around 22" if measured traditionally, 17" from top of bicep to wrist. I need to order soon but only have access to being fitted on a 54. I was told by my LBS that I "look good" on the 54 (on the turbo), but when test riding I felt somewhat stretched. I don't know whether that was due to the 5 minute rough fitting and could be sorted out with a thorough one, or if a 51 would be a better fit. I was also a little worried by how much the seat post had to be cut on the 54 in order to get a decent saddle height for the rough fit. From everything I've gathered by examining the pro's with my general dimensions I should be riding a 51. I've also read that it's better to be on a slightly smaller frame than a slightly larger one. The fact of the matter is that I don't have access to a 51 or a thorough fit. Advice?
