I'm downsizing to live on our narrowboats

Hi guys

Sorry I haven't been able to contribute to this forum for while, I've been busy working on a pair of traditional narrowboats that we intend to use for the floating version of the Good Life
So I have to, reluctantly, downsize and will be selling some of my folders, my rickshaw, early rivet-frame Moulton, recumbent, GoBike travel case etc. Keep an eye out on fleabay.
I hope all my old friends on here are happy, safe and well

wow Chop you disappeared for like months or felt like more than a year! that's a very interesting lifestyle change and i'll have to read up on the blog. I would be more interested to hear what bikes are you keeping in your life and why . would be interesting to hear when space is really a concern and you would still like bikes to travel around in.

Thanks Thor,
We will only need to make enough money to pay for diesel, food and beer! With the workshop in the butty (the unpowered boat) means I can make and fix lots of stuff.
There is also a greenhouse and a chicken coup!

A Locker built on the deck can be Made watertight, but Navigational Canals are not going to see the heavy chop of Open Ocean, or broad Lakes ,

or the high waves of trying to cross the Columbia River Bar , where the River current meets the Incoming Tide.

Hey Chop! Looks like an interesting change. So just how narrow are narrow boats. I read a bunch of your blog and they look far narrower than I first imagined. Were pairs of motored/non-motored narrowboats more common in the past? I spent a summer in a small caravan/travel trailer long ago, but this looks like it could be pretty manageable given the total size of the two boats combined.

Looking forward to your continued adventures. I have always enjoyed your posts!

seems this guy Nick Sanders - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia took English narrow boats across the channel And down the length of the Danube

Narrowboat - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I doubt they were Horse drawn . No tow path between Hull or Dover and Rotterdam ..
