If you like the riding part so much, get an old beater bike that you dont care locking it up outside.

I personally have some experience with the B, ended up going back home and file in half day absence. Just because i dont want to lock my bike outside. I lost another bike in the same building before

I used my 100$ used steel bike after that. Lock it and forget.

Maybe it's better to leave it outside? I commute every day and lock my folder (dahon like) with other big bikes. I feel that's easier than have to fold it then carry it inside the office. I only fold it on the train where I have to, otherwise it's no difference to big bikes. And it's not a brompton so why carry it inside the office? That's one of the reason I don't get a brompton here at London because although brompton is compact enough to carry almost anywhere but the truth is it's so darn heavy to do it (yes you can roll it or whatever but the truth is I only see maybe once or twice people doing that here in London in one year) and it's awkward to lock a brompton outside because that totally defeats the purpose to get one.

BTW, for commute, get something like dahon p8 will be good enough. It's cheap and reliable, best to get a second hand if quality is not compromised, replace big apples with kojak of course.

Anyone else have a similar run-in with building management? Their position is bike don't ever come in to the building.

Considering locking it up on the rack outside, but that just feels WRONG!

This on my 3rd commute!
I commute almost everyday using my dahon folder with me. First, I brought it without a bag but later on bought a cheapie bag from amazon. Only thing with a bag, is people would get curious what's in your bag. I'm also worried about locking any kind of bike outside. But yeah, so far i have no issues with my bringing my folder at work though the administrator has only seen me once having it inside the building.

What is the reason behind not allowing a small, folded-up bike inside a building? Jealousy? Seeing a bike will make people angry? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

+1 for the Dimpa. And it's $4. Although you can see through it, so you might still get stopped. Actually had mine in a Dimpa on Amtrak and they gave me sheet and tried to make me get off and go buy a bike box. I have used Bolt Bus exclusively ever since.

Bikes: Brompton S3L

Be interested to know which Amtrak line tried to give you a ration, since I intend to do an Amtrak trip in the near future. Not interested in Bolt Bus, just the facts behind the Amtrak hassle.
