studded 16 tires
Has anyone tried Schwalbe 16" studded tires on a Brompton or other 349 tired bike? If so, do they make a difference in snow or only help with flat, sheet ice?

Yeah, I used them all last winter in Toronto. For on-road commuting, they make a difference as there are always ice patches (where the plows didnt clear effectively) even when there hasnt been much precipitation for a while. In snow, I dont believe the studs do much but the tread on the tires gives reasonable traction compared to any other tire available at this size.
One downside is the studs push through the backside of the tires over time and wear out the tube - I started to get flats very regularily - even after changing to brand new tubes. Schwalbe has replaced the tires for me so perhaps it was just a bad batch - by the end of this winter, I will know if this is just something to expect with these tires.
