I just checked the book again, and it appears that is the case - it expired, but it was a close thing as Ritchie was so thoroughly fed up with the cheating Neobike CEO that he wanted to call it quits long before then, but didn't as they weren't sure if litigation was just throwing more money down the Neobike-shaped drain. The whole thing was a monumental waste of money.
From the very start, quality was the issue as Nobike were cutting corners at every turn. In th end they took some of Neobike's stock such as handlebars, but even that turned bad as these also had the tendency to break.
