Question about Dahon frames. Rear dropout width
Greetings. New to folding bicycles. My experience is with a Catrike Pocket. The question; I am going to check out a used
Dahon 3 speed. I do not know the model. Are Dahon frames sized such that I could swap out the 3 speed hub and wheel with conventional wheel with a hub and cog set? This bike can be boughf for $125 Thanks

You would need some sort of hanger adapter to mount a derailer even if dropout is good to go. Frames with speed hubs generally don't have the hanger mount.
If this is an old Dahon, then probably not really worth tinkering with. The chainring would be too wide too, to take a derailer chain. You end up swapping out lots and lots of stuff, plus the shifter stuff needed on the handlebar.
Bottom line, buy it for keeping it 3 speed, or leave it.
